    What Next?

Looks good Phil, only thing i'd change is the Demon 3SX. Nothing wrong with the 3SX they are decent enough units, but have fallen behind the competition somewhat and they are in the process of being replaced by a new model. The Spirit pro is still a good bet, or for a 700 the new iKon2/Brian2...

    600 My T-Rex 550 Rebuild

For a small reduction like that you could most likely get away with trimming down the links.

    need help

The team here will help as much as we can but if you need 'hand on' support then maybe the best option is to find a RC flying club in your area and call in to see them. You can find AMA affiliated clubs with the search facility here: http://www.modelaircraft.org/clubsearch.aspx

    What Next?

Phil, I'll be the devil on your shoulder to counter Rodney's voice of reason.... You only live once, so my view is that if you can afford it then why not. The Velos would be trully awesome but there again there are many really nice helis out there. You have a safe place to fly and you are...

    What Next?

700 and 800 helis use two 6s batteries wired in series. These are the exact same 6S 5000mAh batteries that you would use in your 550. So if you have lots of them you are all set, no need to buy any batteries. As for maintenance costs.. You might not believe me, but I've hardly had to spend a...

    600 My T-Rex 550 Rebuild

I think they made the side frames thicker at V2 of the 550 which if i recall was when they added the slant gears. The motor mount could still fit though because the distance between the inside faces of the frames stayed the same.

    600 My T-Rex 550 Rebuild

That's the culprit alright! The locking clip 'thingy' has broke off the plug, it happens occasionally.

    600 My T-Rex 550 Rebuild

Yeah, the joys of upgrades and conversions! The motor moiunt from the later version of the 550 would probably have solved the pinion problems, though i'm not sure if the frames changed too at which point it probably becomes a new heli rather than an upgrade. The DFC head sits lower and the...

    Spektrum DX6 Binding Problem

Yep, you heard it first in post #2 in this thread:friendly_wink: 99 times out of 100 it works fine in the home but occasionally the background WiFi noise can cause issues.

450 X3 Throttle Curve (No Governor)

Uri, There are a range of HKII 2221 motor with different kV ratings to suit different cell count batteries. There is the 3595kV version for 3S but also a 1630kV version for 6S There are a few other kV options too: HKII-22 series - Scorpion Power System Presumably Planetgetlow has the 6S...

    700 T_Rex 700E DFC setup?

Hi Phil, All the Trex 'Super Combo' kits come with an ESC and basically everything else you need except batteries Rx and Tx. The standard ESC that came with the Trex 700 DFC a couple of years back was the Castle Ice2 HV 120A. Later versions came with the Castle Edge HV 120A (or 160A). All the...

General 'What headspeed should i use?' Excel calculator tool

I posted the first version of this tool in another thread but I've been doing a bit more work on the tool and validating against a few more data points from various helis. It's hopefully not far off now for the common range of heli sizes. This tool is not intended to do the same job as any...

    700 T_Rex 700E DFC setup?

That's the case if the ESC has a built in BEC and you are adding a seperate external supply (it avoids the two supplies 'fighting' each other).. However the Trex 700 comes with an ESC that doesnt have a BEC. In this case you must not disconnect the red wire because the ESC relies on taking...

    General Tail pitch

Yeah, triple check that the tail gyro compensation is the correct direction, this is the number one most likely cause. Maybe you could post a video of the heli being turned by hand and showing the response? If it's belt drive it's also easy to have the tail rotor spin backward which will...

    700 T_Rex 700E DFC setup?

Sorry, I missed this reply. I use a 2S 2200mAh on mine which is plenty big enough for at least six flights.

500 AR7210bx, Tail servo wont self center

Re: heli-lo from Missouri The tail slider 'staying put' is perfectly normal. It would be a concern if it centred by itself. If you had the gyro response reversed then best also double check the response to stick input. If you had one wrong there is good chance the other is set wrong too.

    General Let's talk head speeds

You dont need to do anything in the Tx or the Brain other than set your flat throttle curves. When running 'Gov Store' the recommendation is to do the first spoolup with a flat 50% throttle curve, allow the governor to calibrate itself as previously discussed. Now power down and set your...

    General Let's talk head speeds

With the Hobbywing the ESC has to be calibrated to suit your Tx (unlike the Castle where you asjust the Tx to suit the ESC) The procedure for this calibration is in the instructions but basically: Start with everthing turned off, those of nervous disposition might choose to remove blades...

    General Let's talk head speeds

^^^ What Rodney said. Only thing i do any different is that I do to do my throttle range calibration in Gov mode. it works just the same that way and avoids having to change programming. If they are HV servos (7.4V) then you can safely run them at 8V because they are designed to run off a 2S...
