General 'What headspeed should i use?' Excel calculator tool

Phil, good to hear that the tool seems to be working. the more data points I have the more i can tweak it to give accurate results. On that very subject here's a new version of the tool, I found a glitch with V1.2 that effected larger helis when using the weight input option: V1.3:

General 'What headspeed should i use?' Excel calculator tool

Thanks for giving the tool a try Rodney. Bear in mind that this tool is only estimating what headspeed you should use to fly a certain size/weight of heli in a certain flight style. It's not attempting to specify what hardware (motor/battery/pinion etc) that you need to achieve that headspeed...

Hawkeye Firefly 6S 4K Sport Camera

I tried the Firefly out today, this is the very latest '7S' version which is similar to the 6S but has an LCD display on the back. It comes with a load of accessories including a waterproof enclosure and more mounting brackets than you could shake a stick at. I'm pleased with the results, i...

450 Too much play on the main shaft?

Yeah, that's how they are meant to go with the raised part toward the bearing. I think maybe the collar in this case has raised parts on both ends?.. if not it should be turned.

450 SAB 380 Head Setup (Video)

Just follow the AR7210BX setup process, there is nothing about the G380 head that needs any different procedure.

450 Too much play on the main shaft?

I think I've spotted another disaster waiting to happen.. One of the balls isn't fully screwed into the swash: You maybe need to give the whole heli a really good going over, it just takes one mistake like that for your flying session to end badly..

    What Next?

The SK720 black edition truly is the best FBL controller in the business, not that I've ever used one but they do have that 'Rolls Royce' reputation. The GPS /altimeter integration sets them aside from most others, plus the 'pinpoint' sensors (which were developed for aerospace applications)...

    What Next?

Phil, The Skookum (or iKon) would work fine with a Jeti receiver. From the Skookum specification: SK-720 Black Edition « Skookum Robotics The iKon2 spec also mentions PPM, so would work with single wire output from jeti I'm pretty sure. Alternatively you could use conventional multi...

450 Too much play on the main shaft?

Looks to be a non-genuine shaft. The genuine Align shafts have a 'lip' machined into the shaft. Copy shafts dont have the lip, instead they use a retaining collar that locks to the shaft with grub screws... So either you need to get a genuine Align shaft or you need to find a locking collar...

The Goblin 700 is a fine heli, i'm sure you will love it. I have the 630 and the 770 which are basically the same heli, they share the vast majority of parts with the 700, so i can probably help if you have any questions. there really arent any essential add-ons or upgrades, the standard spec is...

    600 My T-Rex 550 Rebuild

The one with the plastic collar moulded in is for use on the swash bellcrank that's used only on the 600. You can see one in the photo i attached in my last post.

    600 My T-Rex 550 Rebuild

Yes, the plastic ball links come un-threaded so you can use them on left or right hand threads such as found on turnbuckles. The ball links with the metal collar are for the DFC links, like shown in this pic: But for some reason they aren't always fitted

    600 My T-Rex 550 Rebuild

Were they new links and rods Phil? They come in different thread sizes, 1.5mm, 2mm, 2.5mm and 3mm. Possibly your ball link was a larger size than the rod causing sloppy fit?

    Opps I did it again

Flying backwards is hard (or at least is is for me). It just seems to 'do my brain in', inverted i find far easier. Hope she's up and flying soon.

    Spektrum DX6 Binding Problem

Phil, I just checked on my DX18. The bars only light up when the Tx is transmitting RF at full power. in bind mode they go out and only come back on once the bind is complete (or if it fails). So it sounds like the behaviour you are seeing is normal. Shame we werent close because between my...

    What Next?

I only set up one Demon 3SX a couple of years ago for a flying buddy. It was reasonably straightforward but I dont think any easier than the Spirit, especially the new version of the Spirit software which is a lot easier. It did fly well right from the maiden flight. The only problem he had with...

    What Next?

Yeah, the Demon does come in a very nice alloy case, depends how important that is to you? They used to be very expensive but maybe they are discounting deeply these days as the new model is already announced, it's called the 'Axon' and is expected in November: New Cortex Pro will be in stores...
