I always set my tail blades with some pitch to resist torque. Tony is spot on that with modern gyros you dont really have to though. It's one of those things where there is no absolute right or wrong way, gyros are so good these days that it's hard to get it wrong!

    Almost forgot...

If he was using a governor then he wouldn't have any bogging. If it was just an ungoverned flat throttle curve then it would bog when collective pitch load was applied, it doesnt matter how powerful the motor was. The stock ESC has a governor and if he was a pro level pilot I'd be amazed if he...

    Almost forgot...

bear in mind that a 'flat 70' (or flat anything else) when using a governor isnt the same thing as an ungoverned flat throttle curve. An ungoverned flat throttle curve always means that you get bogging down when you apply collective pitch, if you arent using a governor then really you should...

FBL Gyro Bailout and Autolevel - MSH Brain

I dont have the iKon but I have a Spirit on my Goblin 630 which also has 'auto-level' function. Personally i dont use it, it's really an option for beginners IMHO. Having the heli constantly trying to return itself to level orientation is good if you are learning the basics but a pain once you...

FWIW I've found that how long your batteries last is usually more to do with how you treat them than the brand. Don't get suckered in to believing that paying more automatically makes the battery better.

Hawkeye Firefly 6S 4K Sport Camera

I've just learned that there is a brand new '7S' version of this camera too, the update appears to be a new lens. So I ordered one of the 7S versions too!.. I can always sell the one I don't need on ebay. I already have a Mobius which I thought was pretty good until I saw the quality of video...

Hawkeye Firefly 6S 4K Sport Camera

I just picked up one of these from BangGood. I don't usually follow the latest development in action cams but I saw a video posted on Youtube and was blown away with the quality and this is the cam he was using. It's 4K but probably more important for my purpose (head cam) its got built in gyro...

A little 450 Pro DFC action today after the repairs...

I used to be the same, after flying my old 450 Pro my nerves were 'jangling' as if I was overdosing on amphetamine. These days I don't get the same effect other than if I have a near miss. You are right in that you need to get regular practice in, that's the only way.

    General Best transmitter for heli

If you want to fly planes then the Mikado V control Tx is a VERY expensive option. The only receiver available is the Neo flybarless controller and while you can get an upgrade that gives the Neo airplane functionality you are looking at something approaching $300 just for the receiver...

The pushrod needs shortening so that the lever arm is parallel to tail boom. I've drawn a line through the arm in question, it should be parallel with the boom and currently isnt:

You should have some pitch on the tail blades at centre stick to resist torque. The linkages are usually designed so that the part of the lever arm that goes between pivot and pitch slider should be aligned perfectly parallel with the tail boom at mid stick. This gives roughly the correct pitch...

If you are using a 3S (approx 3500kV) motor then those batteries will work very well but personally i'd probably avoid the HV LiPo because not all ESCs or chargers are suitable for HV LiPos.. You can charge them to normal LiPo voltage but then you have wasted money on a fancy HV LiPo when you...

    Hello from California

Welcome to the forum Jim. Get lots of stick time on the trainer before even thinking about the F14, in fact it would probably be wise to have an intermediate model between the trainer and the F14 because going straight from a basic trainer to a fast EDF swing wing jet is a huge jump. What...

There are easy ways and hard ways to do everything. I prefer the easy way, but i know from experience that some prefer to take the road less travelled. Q. Can you fly with a bent main shaft? A. Maybe, but it will vibrate horribly and probably knock out the gyro and/or cause other mechanical...

Which tail servo was this? Some tail servos are 'narrow band' (760us frame rate) and they won't work on a standard receiver, only when connected to a gyro that supports (and is set to) 760us.

    General My first soldering attempt

Some HV ESC's have anti spark circuits built in which negates any requirement for anti-spark connectors. The ESC's I know of with AS are the YGE HV series (and the YEP/RotorStar clones) plus the Hobbywing HV V4 range. I'm not aware of any low voltage (6S) ESC's with AS.

    450 Gaui X3 Servos

I'll see if I can find the interview. That explains why the case looks different to anything else in the Servoking range. Bert's first servos did use the same case design as standard Servoking servos, but as you say, his later servos are different (and very nice too).

    General My first soldering attempt

Phil, For smaller helis with currents up to 60 amps I use Hobbyking XT60. They are a Deans direct alternative but in my opinion a much better connector for many reasons.. some of which: They have solder cups to insert the wire into so much easier to solder than Deans Both male and female...
