Hey there RC-Help fans. I just wanted to share a little bit more about me and how I got interested in RC Flight.
I am a Metrologist by trade, performing calibrations and field service for the past 30 years. For those not in the know, Metrology is the science of measurement. I have had the pleasure of being subcontracted to this place for the past 8 years,

I get to work with the engineers who are designing and testing a huge array of actuators and control systems.
One of the coolest projects I have had the opportunity to work on was for the SOFIA project,

The company hear makes the motors/gearing and control electronics to open and close the bay doors that expose the telescope. The motor drive system test fixture contains two 20,0000 In-Lb torque sensors. I perform the calibration on those sensors.
Many cool things happen here, I even saw 4 astronauts walk through as they were witnessing the manufacture of hand tools used on the space station.
Now, getting into RC flight, I see a lot of 1:1 scale controls and actuators. They look a bit different than the Transmitters and servos we use, but actually just the same. Kinda cool to see the insides and understand the whole concept of Fly by Wire.
Not to often you get a job that actually excites you and challenges your brain and time management all at the same time. I hardly ever call it work.
But it is calling me now. Peace my friends.
