That is a great price. 225 for an enclosure, wow. Didn't think a server would be that cheep. Yeah thd drives can get pricey but hey get a few at a time.

If/When I get about $700 saved up I will be getting that server and putting 1TB drives in it for a NAS. Just a place to back up all of my crap as well as everyone else's in my family. Set their computers up so that it backs up automatically over the net (majorly throttled of course with my slow ass interwebz) so they don't have to do anything because they will screw it up lol. And you can get a server like that with 24 or 48GB of memory installed which should be more than enough for a backup server or a light VM. Matt was pounding it into my head when he was hear last weekend. My server is x86 only so it's limited on what VM I can run on it. Which sucks.

The thing with this chassis is that you can just fill it up with $20 500gb drives and still end up with 5TB of usable space after raiding it. So for just over $500 you can have a pretty good vm host. And if you put it all in one raid group then you will be reaching SSD speeds with all of those spindles as well.

Some things are better, some things are worse, and some things are exactly the same. Trying to get some motivation but I just can't bring myself to it...

Hi Tony, sounds a bit deep to me ............... life's a lot like that. As one gets older, it's just a matter of finding what works best for you and dumping the stuff that doesn't. Give it a try.

Good luck!

Sometimes, you just need to get outside on a beautiful day and jump on the tractor and play in the dirt. That is exactly what I'm going today. Why no RC? Wind.....

Im going out to watch my son son play hockey tonight, and then probably crash my nano into a wall as I try something I don't have the talent yet to do but that is what its all about ain't it.

Oh, I wasn' t playing, but when I'm on the tractor, I don't really think about anything. It's like flying a helicopter, you just concentrate on the task at hand.

Well, I spread a layer of fertilizer on my garden and then tilled it in to help put some nutrients back in the soil (won't be able to afford compost this year, triple 13 is cheap compared to compost). I have been waiting MONTHS for my garden to dry out so I could do this, it's always been too wet. Well today I went out there and looked at the soil, and it was cracking from being so dry. Perfect, I can till this up into a powder and make it nice and loose (until it rains tonight lol).

With the garden done, I figured I would try to tackle the issue of the garage flooding and put some dirt up against it from a pile that was behind the garage. Then I cleaned some of the fence line (yes, with the tractor, I'm not going to walk! lol). But then, I decided the large and heavy metal shed needed moved. So... I moved it. Yup, with the bucket on the tractor lol. I pushed it onto it's side, then pushed it out of the way so I could work the dirt under it. Didn't get to that, but that is easy work. I'm going to dig it down and put blocks under it so it's not sitting directly on the ground.

Well, time to play with servers...

Hell sounds like fun to me if you need a tractor for your garden lol, I could turn the ground in my garden with a table fork.

I don't "need" a tractor for my harden (you can see it in some of the quad videos), but is sure as hell keeps me from throwing my back out.

Nice to have though I'm sure (back saving, time saving etc etc.), its always easier to do something if you have the right tool regardless of the task at hand.

Going flying next week..rented a gym for a few hours with my brother in laws and try out a a few flips and inverted for the first time then I think were going to set up a small course and blast around the hubsan mini quads just for kicks.

Thank you. I just get tired of the "whats the best....." questions and thought I would spell out my history and explain where I stand.

Might I digress though.

I just made 3 huge purchases in the last 36 hours. In one purchase I got a full set of BK Servos with a set of Zeal mains and tails. In the second I got 6 ferro rods new sunglass for flying and shooting (ESS Ice w/ clear, HD yellow and smoke lenses) and a Morakniv. My final purchase was a $500 CD for a secured credit card. I finally decided its time to fix the credit. This will be my first AmEx Platinum card. I am stoked to get the credit score higher for a new home.

Next weekend I hope to shoot some video of all the goodies I received in the last 2 weeks. It should be a setup type video explaining how to use the RC Logger pitch guage set along with show casing the BK Servos.

Next I am going shooting tomorrow. I SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO want to go shoot. THe M&P Sheild 9mm is getting dirty tomorrow. I have 600 rounds waiting to go down range.
