    Motors Watts means Power, yes?

That motor would fly it but if you want something fast you are going to need something rated for around 1000W, so a much bigger motor. APC published some really good prop data: APC Propellers The list includers their range of multirotor props (suffixed 'MR'). A 470Kv motor on 6S would spin the...

    Motors Watts means Power, yes?

As Randy said.. Watts are units to measure power, like inches or centimetres are units to measure length. Power and thrust on the other hand are not the same thing and cant be directly linked. For example at one extreme it's possible to lift over 100lb with 400W if you have a large enough and...

General 44.4v's back down to 22.2v's

Dennis, It depends what stuff you already have. If you already have batteries then it's probably cheaper to buy a lower Kv motor. Changing gearing is a good option on many helis but the Trex 700 with it's fixed motor positions doesnt give much option on that front. If I were doing a moderately...

General 44.4v's back down to 22.2v's

That's true tony, but if all you do is remove a 12S mattery and fit a 6S battery (making no other changes) then power ('wattage') doesn't stay the same. The lower voltage means that the rotor RPM is lower so less power is needed to spin the blades.

    Wanted: Old Align Pro Helicopter

2 weeks too late Tony, I gave a 450 Pro away two weeks ago.. To be honest though postage would have probably ruled sending it to you out.

    700 My New T-Rex 700X Build

Hi Fran, I've got one of those new tail cases fitted to my 700X.. to be honest i dont fly hard enough to need it but i was curious about whet they changed. The problem seemed to be with the new 202/23t gears, on those gears the slant direction is reversed, so torque on the slant tends to force...

    General Today's flights

Just the title 'Today's flights' seemed appropriate. Feel free to move it if there is a better home for it.

    General Today's flights

Today was a Goblin day! I took out my new 700 Speed and my 'Old Faithful' 630Comp. I got 6 flights in on the speed and 2 on the comp. This was only the 2nd outing for the speed but it's pretty much dialled in already:

General 44.4v's back down to 22.2v's

Dennis, I just skimmed the post but all seems sensible enough... However if you want to run 1900RPM then you dont need to change anything. 1900RPM is within the operating range of a standard 12S setup. I get 7 minutes out of my Trex 700 as standard. Reducing cell count doesnt in itself give...

    700 My New T-Rex 700X Build

Hope you get flying weather soon Phil. It's been awful hear today, the rain hasn't let up at all. I'm hopeful that tomorrow will be better and I can get out flying.

    700 Goblin 700 Speed

I have a GPS transponder that I use for cycling, so i could stick that in the speed and see what it says.. I'll give it a few flights before I try too seriously though. I'd probably have to increase the pitch range and maybe change the pulley to get higher headspeed if i wanted to really get it...

    700 Goblin 700 Speed

Cheers Keith, I made the right call flying it yesterday. As is so often the case the weather was good for the whole working week and now Saturday arrives it's non-stop torrential rain. I've checked the heli over and it's good to go again so fingers crossed tomorrow will be ok.

    General Spirit gyro update

Neil, No, i dont think it's worth changing if you have it working fine as it is, it just makes it easier to setup if you were doing it from scratch.

    700 Goblin 700 Speed

Thanks guys. I was very happy with the way it went. Confession time....i did actually have one flight before the one in the video, but that was just a series of hovers to do the Vbar trim flight and to get the gyro gain in the right ball park. I try to start low on the tail gain and 'creep up'...

    General Spirit gyro update

It's a big update. The rescue activated by seperate channel is a good one, it takes away the need to do 'fancy tricks' with gyro gain reversing. The Groupner HotTT integration looks good too, but obviously only if you use Groupner. It's a shame that integration with Spekrum doesnt seem to be...

    700 Goblin 700 Speed

I popped out from work at lunchtime and scored a maiden flight the 700 Speed. I was nervous about this one as I'm not sure about the stability of the landing gear, and the Vbar in it is the one that was in the Trex 700X when it had an unexplained crash (I've checked it out since and it seems...

General 44.4v's back down to 22.2v's

For the 700 I use either the Platinum 130A HV V4 or the 160A version. For the 450 the 60A V4 It's only the latest V4 that has active freewheeling.
