    FBL Gyro 3gx Connectors

The original Align part number for the cable set was 'HEP3GX02' but the 3GX has been out of production for years now so you will be lucky to find one in stock anywhere. The cables for most gyros are similar so you could probably use a set from another FBL. If using Spektrum satellite receivers...

500 ALZRC Devil 420 FAST - build log

I finally got around to installing the KST 'Contactless' servos in my D420. I've had these servos for a while but just never got around to fitting them because the regular KSTs seemed to be performing fine. These new contactless servos as well as using hall effect sensors rather than regular...

    450 Belt Drive Vibration

You could work through eliminating one thing at a time: Does it vibrate with the main blades removed yes or no? (this eliminates main blades and/or feathering shaft issues) Does if vibrate with the tail blades removed yes or no? (eliminates tail blades/tail hub) Does it vibrate with the belt...

    ESC Connecting Grounds

I've used exactly that conficuration (HV ESC with seperate Rx battery) many times and never added grounds to the batteries and it's never been any issue. This isnt to say it's not possible for problems to occur but I've never experienced them. This seems to be advice that only quoted in scale...

Goblin 700 Speed Getting Some Air Time

Thanks James! I'm firmly of the opinion that all the matters in this hobby is that we have fun, so just keep enjoying your flying. I trued to get some more flights in today but it was too cold so i gave up after a single flight. Fingers crossed tomorrow will be better.

    ESC Connector Standards For Escs

XT60 is hard to beat for up to medium size. They are compact but much easier to solder than Deans and also much easier to pull apart. The fact that a large proportion of batteries come fitted with XT60 as standard makes it a 'no-brainer' IMHO.

    Motors Reduce Brushless Motor Heat

If the ESC was adjustable lower timing would in most cases decrease motor temperature. Counter intuitively higher PWM can also cause a slight reduction in motor temperature at the expense of higher ESC temperature. On the other hand if the ESC has no adjustment and you cant improve motor...

It's Time For A Change. Post Up & Help Out Please.

Tony I didn't comment because I really know nothing about the subject, but it does seem strange on the face of it that Youtube would chose to remove all potential to make advertising revenue? What's the idea behind this?

Spektrum Fbl Complte Head Setup Incl Swash Plate Leveling

Jacob, Usually in the heli build manual there will be guidance on the distance from centre (radius) that the balls should be places on the servo arms. Sometimes the holes on the arms don't allow you to put them at exactly the recommended distance but 'as near as possible' is usually fine.

Spektrum Fbl Complte Head Setup Incl Swash Plate Leveling

With your previous RC exparience and sim sime (not to mention flying 'real' planes you should do fine. -3 to +7 pitch range should work ok. Personally I found a very flat curve made it harder to react when the heli was disturbed by gusts etc, so i prefer a more aggressive curve. It's an...

Goblin 700 Speed Getting Some Air Time

For a change the weather was perfect yesterday so i gave to 700 speed a few flights, here's one of them. As usual for me, just 'old man sport flying' but the heli stays in one piece which is always my main objective!:

Spektrum Fbl Complte Head Setup Incl Swash Plate Leveling

Hi Jacob, There isn't much for me to add here that's not been covered but at the risk of duplicating what's already been said; If you have a straight-line 0-50-100% pitch curve and put the collective stick in the middle (50%) then all the servo arms should be perfectly horizontal, the swash...

    What Did You Do Today???

I got seven heli flights in today in perfect conditions, best flying day for ages. My flying buddy even turned up. Gave the grass it's final cut of the year once I got home, far too wet for cutting really but it's probably not going to get any dryer for months so I had to get it done.

Kits Black Horse Ju 87 Stuka

Very nice work, i'd have most likely just chopped the hole and called it good but your modification is much better.

    Micro Numb Thumb

The geometry of the new head and swash may be slightly different so the links may need to be adjusted. Have you re checked the pitch setup? With a 'straight-line' 0- 50-100% pitch curve you should have zero pitch at mid stick (servo arms level) and +/- 12 or 13 degrees at full stick travel.

450 Xfx Trex 450 Super Combo Maiden Flight Cheapest 450 Helicopter

Tony, Sounds like you came to the same conclusion that I arrived at years ago in regard to the cheaper end of the clone heli market. They may be dirt cheap but they are cheap for good reason i.e. they are low quality. When you put so much of your own valuable time into a heli build then IMHO you...

    General Gyro

General rule is to set the gains as high as possible without causing oscillation. As Uri said, aileron and elevator values would usually be the same or very close but rudder could be very different. If you have the gains too low the heli will feel 'loose' and wont hold it's orientation very...

    Hovering Around

Nice! I saw your dog walking around in the background totally ignoring the heli. I couldn't fly my helis with my dogs around, they would go nuts.

General Need Help With A 2kg Plane And A High Kv Motor Will It Fly

There are a few possible problems: First; you dont actually know what the static thrust is. I'm guessing you are basing your figure on claims for the motor rather than actual measurement? Second; the 1/3rd rule is just a average figure based on a typical model. You model has a much higher wing...
