500 ALZRC Devil 420 FAST - build log

The D420 is quite a bit smaller and about half the weight of the D505, so the 505 will fly noticeably 'bigger'.. i.e. the larger heli will be smoother and more stable especially in the wind. But for a heli of it's size the D420 flies great.

500 ALZRC Devil 420 FAST - build log

Just a quick heads-up.. Banggood have a 1/3rd off sale on the Devil 420, so the total price for the 'Super Combo' which has everything you need except battery and Rx is $310. That's a real bargain in my book: ALZRC Devil 420 FAST FBL RC Helicopter Super Combo

    ESC E-flite 30A Pro Switch-Mode ESC

Maybe when you attempted to change the brake setting you accidentally re-calibrated the throttle end points so that the ESC is no longer seeing a slosed throttle signal which it needs to arm. I'd try running the rough the throttle calibration routine, thgis doesnt appear to be in the manual but...

    Prop Decent receiver

As Geena said, the lemon receivers are meant for fixed wing only, not for helis. They dont have 'self levelling' type stabilisation anyway, all they have is a rate mode gyro that helps correct if the plane gets hit by a gust etc. The standard (non-stability) Lemon receivers could be used on a...

    Prop Decent receiver

DSM2 is only 'banned' in Europe on new transmitters for sale. You can still legally use DSM2 if you have older DSM2 equipment. As for receivers. The Lemon Rx range in my favourite, i've used them on everything from small foamies to 700+ helis: DSMX Compatible For the model in question I'd...

    Not new to the hobby.

Hi CD, I've been in and out of the hobby over the years too. If you have been out for a while the electric revolution will probably be the biggest change, but you can still fly old school glow (nitro) if you like. I think it's a hobby that you can spend what you want. One of the other changes...

    450 450x

I think that Donny may have gone AWOL, however I wonder if he was maybe using a DX6i Tx? The DX6i always had an issue in that closed throttle and throttle hold did not give the same % of closed throttle. Thottle hold was 'more closed' so if your ESC was calibrated to see the throttle hold as...

    Trucks Radio issues

I've very little experience of cars but for sure it's not a Tx issue, the signal a airplane type Tx puts out is the same as a car Tx puts out (they are all 2.4GHz these days so no need to worry about the old school frequency rules) It's most likely an ESC setup issue but having never run a...

    Boats New brusshless in boat.

what motor, what battery, what ESC and what prop? It's really impossible to diagnose the problem without all the details. It's quite possible that the motor is too low Kv so is just spinning too slow but without the details I cant say. Light weight would only be an issue if the boat floats so...

General Now this would be cool to own...

The R-Max design is about 20 years old, FBL controllers weren't around back then. I guess for the type of flying intended the flybar works fine so they never saw need to update it.

    General Won't be long....

A tiny spot of CA glue should hold it in place.

General Now this would be cool to own...

Well.. I guess it looks impressive but even if you put the price to one side the reality of ownership for hobby purposes might not be quite as much 'fun'. You wouldn't be able to fly at most club fields due being over the allowable weight limit, and for sure parks and sports fields and 'back...

    Projects I did the unthinkable

I've seen 2k advertised clear cote sold pre-catalysed in rattle cans. You probably cant store it for long once the catalyst has been added but it's worth thinking about if you do want that deep wet-gloss look. If you spray outside and stay upwind you can do without the fancy mask. After the...

General Help need to find 450 3D settings for DX8 gen2

Yeah, as the others have said, they will work just the same in a DX8 G2 as a DX8 G1.. They will be fine to get you in the air as a starting point but it does seem a bit strange that the 'idle -up 1' and 'idle -up 2' settings are identical? Usually for you idle-up 2 setting you would use a...

    Projects I did the unthinkable

Good that the Acrylic seems to be working for you Uri. The stuff i was using was out of rattle cans, so it wasn't a thinners problem. I've used acrylic before and it worked ok back then but that was spraying very light coats out of an airbrush. I think the problem on the guitar was putting on...

    Projects I did the unthinkable

You might regret the acrylic Uri.. It takes an age to dry in my experience. It feels dry to the touch after minutes but seems to never fully harden. Acrylic clear cote is worse of all. I painted a guitar with it and after four weeks it would still leave finger marks where you held the guitar...

FBL Gyro Spirit pro, integration with Spektrum!

Yeah, I thought that they would at least make integration work between their own Tx and their own AR7210BX FBL.. I can only assume that the BeastX just doesnt have the capability to do it. I notice that on the new '3S' version of the Blade 360CFX Horizon have dropped BeastX technology and gone...

FBL Gyro Spirit pro, integration with Spektrum!

They did, it's a BeastX in the Spektrum AR7210BX flybarless controller. The BeastX seems to be lagging way behind in terms of telemetry and transmitter integration as it doesnt support either for any brand of transmitter. I think the limitation must be within the BeastX, so nothing Spektrum can...
