FBL Gyro Spirit Pro with Three Bladed Goblin

The tensioner is 'nice' insomuch that the position of the pensioner arm tells you if you have the right tension or not thus taking all the guesswork out of adjustment but to be honest once you get used to Goblins you can easily tell by feel if the tension is right or not. On the big Goblins it's...

Good point, better to have nose weight in the form of engine than in the form of lead! As long as you don't end up having to add tail weight because the weight increase really starts to add up. The physical fit of the engine doesn't look too bad all things considered.

    New To Rc Flying

Welcome to the forum Bill. Programming should be easy enough if you stick with a simple setup, it's really just a matter of having the manual handy and getting stuck into it. If you come across any problems just shout up.

Flight Stabilizers HobbyEagle A3 Super II flight stabiliser

Stan, I'll have to plug the unit in and check the settings because it's been ages since I set it up. What I do recall is that for auto-hover to be effective you must have the gains pretty much fully maxed out. What I did was set up a mix in the Tx so that when I selected auto hover the gains...

600 Tail Kick On Punch Out Goblin 570

Uri, That's right, Active Freewheel is only on the Platinum V4 ESC's. It was never a feature on the V3, they don't have the hardware to support it. Your problem must be elsewhere.

600 Tail Kick On Punch Out Goblin 570

It 'should' with be possible with HW V4 ESCs to get an RPM signal from the ESC into the FBL telemetry, it needs the latest firmware though. Personally I never worry about what the precise RPM is, i just set it up by how it 'feels' to fly and dont get too concerned about the actual RPM number. I...

600 Tail Kick On Punch Out Goblin 570

I have to admit that I've not used the FBL governor with the HW ESC, I always just use the internal HW governor. I've read a little about the issues between the Vbar gov and the HW ESC and also heard a wide range of opinions about what causes it and how to fix it. Personally i just avoid the...

600 Tail Kick On Punch Out Goblin 570

Active freewheeling makes the ESC more efficient at any throttle setting below 100%. I've noticed measurable flight time increases between AFW off and on, about 20 or 30 seconds typically.. So i'd not disable it unless you really have to. I really dont see how AFW could cause tail kick? I use it...

For the engine mounting the important thing is that the prop shaft is where it's intended to be (on the centre of the fuselage) so if the mount has to be offset to allow the prop to be on centre then so be it. I'm no expert on gas engine conversions but a 38cc gas engine seems to me like it...

    450 The $60 450 Project

My prediction would be that you have a reasonable chance of getting it to fly with a little tweaking here and there, but I'd not expect it to last long without constant attention and upgrades. Time will tell.....

    New to hobby

Hi Kyle, Welcome to the forum and to this wonderful hobby. RC helis are the hardest branch of RC to master but that does make them very rewarding when it does start to 'click'. A PC RC flight simulator is a good tool for learning the basics, they are pretty realistic. A small cheap quad is...

    General quick Hello

All good hear Chris though I've not been getting as much flying as I'd like, primarily due to the endless crap weather. Hope it's been a little better for you 'down south'?

To some extent in this hobby you get what you pay for. I'd await Tony's review before beating yourself up for missing out on a bargain. My bet is it's pretty much $60 down the toilet, so not such a bargain after all... Time will tell if i'm right:)

    600 Help with setting up TrexE 550DFC, IKON2BT, Talon 90, DX6 radio.

Thanks for the clarification, as Tony says, you are running short on channels but once you figure where the gains need to be tehre isnt any need to have gain adjustment from the Tx so you can use the gear channel for bank switching. As for the throttle curves. if using the castle governor you...

    600 Help with setting up TrexE 550DFC, IKON2BT, Talon 90, DX6 radio.

Hi Jake, welcome to RC-Help. Wou are going to have to give a lot more detail about the exact nature of the problems. Have you gone through the full IKon setup process with the PC software? .. Did that all go as expected? As for the specific two problems you raised... By 'no idle up 1 and...

    450 Tail wag

If it's a fast wag, like a blurring of the tail, than i'd suspect that it's simply gain too high

Servos Making a servo 'Y' adapter

+1.. You loose all the advantages of a modern computer Tx if you use a Y lead. By using two individual channels you can adjust end points and differential movement etc from the Tx rather than having to fiddle around with linkage geometry. As for the best way to make a Y-lead.. I'd just buy one...

    450 Tail wag

I'm not sure of the others experience but 'mechanics' like sticky linkages and notchy bearings in my experience tend to produce relatively slow and lazy wag of the tail. This is quite different to the high speed shake you get when the gain is too high. So what sort of wag has the tail of your...

FBL Gyro Spirit Pro with Three Bladed Goblin

The Goblin range (all sizes) are the most obvious helis that come in both two and 3 blade versions. there are others of course but the Goblins are the ones (if any) I'd expect to see in the list of standard setups. I'd be surprised if very different values were needed from the standard 2 blade...

FBL Gyro Spirit Pro with Three Bladed Goblin

PS.. You should be able to put the cyclic gain back to the default value for the goblin 380 now. I'm sure most guys with the tri blade use the same gain value as the two blade with no issues, that's what I'd start with.
