They are in stock here in the UK so delivery in the US should be imminent if they aren't there already.

    Other DX5e servo revercing switches

It's ceratinly possible to fly most standard planes on a 5 channel non-computer Tx. 'Back in the day' when i started out anything more than 4 channel was a very expensive luxury, computer Tx's were unheard of, and even reversing switches hadn't made an appearance (you got left and right hand...

    Piro Tuning (Spirit Pro)

Phil, You can get the low profile (F3C) ones in black too. The part number is 'H60126' Landing Skid H60126 - English

    Piro Tuning (Spirit Pro)

It's honestly not an issue at all. When you fly a heli you are constantly correcting anyway. If the tilt does make the heli tend to drift forward ever so slightly then you dont even notice it, you just just correct for it without thinking in the same way as you correct for the effect of wind or...

Jeezus! 5 police dead, 6 wounded in Dallas at a protest

yes, it's all over the news here too, it's a terrible situation. I saw the video of the guy shot dead by police in his car too and I can understand the anger, but nothing justifies this latest shooting.

    450 Project Dominator

Might be worth looking at the Gartt 450L or HK Assault 450L (same heli both made by Gartt).. You can get a complete airframe kit for about $90 then make up a hybrid using the clone parts as necessary?

    Piro Tuning (Spirit Pro)

Phil, I was watching the game too, a disappointment but they did a lot better than England. Anyway, the forward tilt has no adverse effect at all on takeoff or landing, i know for sure because I've got the exact same arrangement on my Trex 600. There is no downside, it even looks pretty nice...

G'day Trevor.. so what are you flying these days?

    Piro Tuning (Spirit Pro)

Phil, I stumbled accross a thread elsewhere where a Trex 550e owner had done just what I talked about with the landing gear, i.e. fitted the shorter F3C gear at the front and the stock 'long' 550 gear at the back. This kicks the tail up quite nicely and creates some useful tail rotor clearance...

Batteries power at the field is always an issue

Interesting but you do need to appreciate the difference between charging a 3S 2200mAh at 3A like he was doing in the video and Uri's aim of charging his dual 6S 3000mAh at 3C (18A). The Video guy needed 37 watts, Uri would need 450 Watts... so that would be 12 of the panels shown in the...

Batteries power at the field is always an issue

Assume you would be parallel charging the two 3000mAh packs together as a pair? 25.2V x 3Ah x 2 packs x 3C charge rate = 454W Assume charger is 85% efficient and battery delivers 12V: Amps from deep cycle battery = 454 /(12 x 0.85) = 44.5A So to charge your two packs at 3C you would have to...

    A couple more flights

Yes, new firmware released a couple of weeks ago but i think only for the V4 ESC range. It gives the option to adjust initial startup power so you can make the initial part of the spoolup even softer. It also fixes some issues that the ESC had when using external governors but i dont do that so...

Batteries power at the field is always an issue

Tony, Yes, I factored the fully charged deep cycle and fully charged LiPos into the calculation. The problem is that these large 12S LiPo packs suck an awful lot out of a deep cycle. You would only get about 3 or 4 recharges from a 12V 100Ah deep cycle. The other problem is according to many...

    A couple more flights

Thanks guys. It's been frustrating conditions these last couple of weeks. Constantly changing between sunshine and showers with the odd monsoon thrown in! I've had to bail out of every flying session due to rain. on a positive not at least it's not been too windy so conditions between showers...

Batteries power at the field is always an issue

I'm quite sceptical about use of solar power for battery charging. Solar has it's uses in fixed installations where the panel has 'all day' to gather charge and where you can cover large areas with panels but for a small portable setup where panel area is limited and you are charging as you fly...

    Digital Caliper

Yes, it's an interesting gizmo. The way i tend to look at it is that it's not the absolute length value that's critical to a high degree of precision, but rather getting them all the same. To get centre to centre I just take the length that I measure to the inside and add a link hole diameter to...

    Digital Caliper

I use an identical digital caliper to get my links the same length blade tracking is pretty much guaranteed if you get the links identical. I just poke the jaws of the caliper through the holes in the links and measure to the inner edge of the hole.

    Batteries ZIPPY Compact 5000mAh 6s 60c Lipo

I have a pair of the exact same batteries that I use in my Goblin 770 and Agile 7.2. Mine are about 6 months old and perhaps 40-50 cycles. So far they are doing fine, no puffing and the cells all balance nicely. They are a slightly unusual shape, a little narrower but slightly taller and a shade...

600 Uri's Big bird build journal

Uri, That's a nice looking flying site you have. it's good to see the 570 flying so well after the repairs, good job you did there. Flying backward is something i still struggle with. I can do backward in a straight line but it feels totally unnatural. I think it's due to decades of fixed wing...
