    Misc. Wont Bind

I've never experienced it myself but I've heard it said that the background 2.4GHz signals from wireless networks can interfere with binding. You could try turning off you home network and/or taking the stuff outside and away from the house where the signals are not as strong. You might also...

Batteries Hot Rod Batteries C Ratings

If you want longest flight time then cram in the biggest battery you can fit in. The trade off is big batteries are heavier so performance and agility will suffer, it's all compromises.

600 Goblin 570 Fbl (and Some Questions)

She looks great! The receiver you have could work but it doesnt have single line output capability meaning you would have to run multiple wires between the Rx and the FBL which is a bit messy and doesnt give telemetry or integration support with the FBL. You would be better getting an SPM4649T...

    Anyone Tried Hydro-dipping?

It took me a day , working on and off, then a couple of hours the following day to re-assemble. This included having two attempts on two parts of the case (the case is in three parts) and stripping off the abortive first attempts. If I had to do it again today I'm pretty sure i'd get it right...

    Anyone Tried Hydro-dipping?

yeah, the video shows how i did it. It'ts pretty straightforward but like anything it takes a little practice. I had a couple of abortive attempts that I had to scrub off with a metal abrasive pad an denatured alcohol! Probably would have been wiser top practice on some old junk first but I got...

    Anyone Tried Hydro-dipping?

So the weather has been terrible here and i've been bored so i got to thinking i might try my hand at Hydro-dipping. My trusty Spektrum DX18 was the first thing that came to hand, so here's the end result: What do you think?

    380/420 Helical-cut Gears - Setting Mesh

FWIW I use paper but in a slightly different way. First i double the paper over. Next I turn the gear until I find the tightest spot (the gears are rarely perfectly circular), then I set the gear mesh at that tightest point using the doubled over paper strip. As a double check i'll give the gear...

450 Help With Trex 450 pro dfc super combo 3gx

It was all looking good in the video, then suddenly bits of broken heli. What exactly went wrong, what switch caused that (self destruction switch?)

    450 Hausler 450 Pro

Hope the back is better soon Tony. I can empathise because I've had something similar in the past and it's no fun at all. Pete, as for the Hausler and similar Align clones... You do have to be prepared for some work and additional expense solving various quality problems with most of these...

    Batteries Lipo Ressurection

If the battery has been down at almost zero volts for a good while then it's toast. You may well be able to get some charge into it but it wont be usable, even if you do get it to charge up fully it's internal resistance will be through the roof making it no use for RC motor applications. By all...

First Garden Till Of The Season

Round here at this time of year the ground varies between waterlogged and frozen solid. It will be a couple of months before I could get near the garden. Maybe I should emigrate :(

    600 That’s Stuffed It...

That's a bummer. It was awful windy on Sunday. I gave my Trex 700X one flight then gave up. Hope the 550 is fixed up and flying soon

450 Wahoo Align 470 Lm Is On The Way

Looking good so far James! There are lots of things about helis that are counter intuitive. The more you learn about them the more surprising it is that they fly at all!

    Motors Understanding Motor Data

Yeah it's only a rule of thumb but it used to be reasonably reliable for most motors, if a bit conservative. The ultimate power of a motor is limited by magnetic saturation which in turn is related to the weight of the iron core and magnets, so weight is a factor for sure.

    Motors Understanding Motor Data

PS... I've done some reading up and maybe these modern racing drone motors tear up the old rule book.. Seems like they can deliver the sort of power being claimed here, which is very impressive

    Motors Understanding Motor Data

Those stats might need taking with a large pinch of salt. 270W is a LOT for a 28g motor. The rule of thumb for motors is that they can deliver up to 80-100W per ounce (28g).. do this one is claiming three times the norm... I dont believe it.... The fact that they dont list a range of props also...

I'd Love To See This In Person

It was pretty amazing. The speed those boosters came down had me thinking they were going to crash and burn. I guess that they have to come in fast because they are running on fumes so cant mess around with long rocket burns.
