500 Hi Guys - Just Joined

The 'Microbeast Plus' works out expensive if you add the 'Pro' software upgrade. The software on it's own is about $100 then you have to buy the programming dongle that's another $20... this is all on top of the purchase price of the basic Microbeast Plus. Personally i'd recommend the iKon2 /...

    ESC Castle 25 Amp

Ronald, The pdf instructions that Tony attached explain better than I can. If after reading them there are any steps that you aren't sure of just let us know and we can talk you through it.

heat on the screws also helps soften the Loctite. Best way is to heat the screw with a soldering iron then quickly before it cools, screw it out. This is best done before you strip the head of the screw!

    ESC Castle 25 Amp

Having to do the 'fixed endpoint' routine is a bit of a pain for sure. it's easy enough once you get used to it but you still need the USN link. I dont know why castle dont do endpoint calibration like most other ESC manufacturers (i.e. power up with throttle open and wait for a beep)

    ESC Castle 25 Amp

Ronald, Which model of ESC do you have, castle do a few different versions with a 25A rating. Anyway, I think all versions need to be set using the 'Fixed endpoint' method. To do this you need the castle 'USB link' so you can can connect the ESC to a PC... do you have a USB link?

Other Taranis X9d+ Airplane Help Needed

I picked up a Taranis shortly after they came out but i found the Open Tx software very hard work, so sold it without ever using it to fly a model, so i'm afraid i'm of no help. I'd guess though that if you have got to grips with the Open Tx from the quads that using it on a plane should be...

looks good. Is the frame 3d printed?.. it has that look.

My Spirit Pro and SPM4649T receiver arrived so over the last couple of evenings I've been finishing off the wiring. I used the SPM4649T along with a Lemon RX satellite to give diversity. The carbon canopy and boom makes antenna placement quite critical. Hopefully I'll get the setup...

Good quality hex drivers is the best protection from stripped heads on screws, also don't overtighten them. If the sockets do round off cutting a screwdriver slot with a dremel cutting disk usually works. Good luck, it's really frustrating when you hit these snags.

By their accents it sounded like they were from my part of the world (North East England)... But we aren't all quite so excitable.

450 Wahoo Align 470 Lm Is On The Way

Good to see that the replacement balls fix the problem. Guess you just got a faulty batch. FWIW I like the way SAB and most others do the servo arm balls. They use a female threaded ball and a regular socket head screw that goes through the arm. The big advantage is that the screw can be made...

The TM1000 is a good option to get flight pack and Rx voltage telemetry. I use the TM1000 on a few of my helis.

I've made all the progres I can on the build, servos and ESC are installed and wiring is run to where the FBL will be located. I'm now waiting on delivery of the Spirit pro (from the Czech Republic) and the receiver which was coming from here in the UK and really should have been here already...

The advantage of the SPM4649T is that you get direct integration with the Tx so you can do the FBL setup direct from the Tx screen. You are probably right on the voltage limit but if you use an ESC with data output that's a non-issue because the telemetry data signal (not the actual voltage)...

700 Trex 700 Head And Telemetry Options

Fran's photo of the burned Ice2 is worrying but I've seen examples of burned ESC's from just about every brand. The official line from Castle was that the problem was fixed when they upgraded from the original Ice HV to Ice2 HV... From Fran's evidence there is obviously still an occasional...

700 Trex 700 Head And Telemetry Options

The SPM4649T is still the better option because it offers integration with the Tx so you can make field adjustments to FBL setup direct from the Tx, you cant do this with satellites alone. The SPM4649T has a port for connecting external battery voltage input, like the TM1000 but i'm not sure...

700 Trex 700 Head And Telemetry Options

The original Castle Ice HV did have a terrible reputation for bursting into flames. To be fair to Castle though they were all recalled and repaired/replaced with the Ice2. The Ice 2 seem to be safe enough as far as i know. For sure I've used a couple of them with no issues. They dont support...

700 Trex 700 Head And Telemetry Options

With the Spirit Pro, if you use a spektrum SPM4649T receiver (and you use an ESC that supports data output e.g. latest castle Edge and Hobbywing V4 for instance) then you get full telemetry data (voltage mAh used, RPM etc) back to the Tx. You also get full programming interface so that you can...

450 Flying With Msh Brain2 Icon

I guess everyone is different on how they approach a new stunt like going inverted. A sim is a great idea but personally i find them to boring to spend much time on. I'm a long time fixed wing flyer so i feel more comfortable flying the heli with some forward speed like it was a plane. I started...
