All of those you need a TWIC to get in. The ports are almost as secure as a military instillation. Either you have a TWIC, or you get an escort, and no one wants to give escorts.

So this morning I'm still sitting here in Jacksonville and have made about a dozen phone calls. I have people all over the country looking for freight. There is just nothing out there right now.

That's probably corporate trucking going on, lock out all the independents, with all the stuff bought sold consumed in this country I am sure there are plenty to run for everyone.

Talking with some people and thinking about getting back into hauling tankers. There is a LOT more work in the winter hauling Methanol, and during the summer, you can haul DEF. This is not the way I thought this whole ordeal would play out. But, at least I can say I did it, even if I failed at it.

Just a heads up... in case you aren't paying attention to the weather down there.... There is at this time 2 tornado warnings over in the panhandle of Florida and just north in Alabama.

In addition, the SE in the area you are in has t-storms forecasted for the whole area.... more details can be found on the SPC website fore the convection outlook for today as well as the tornado forecast

Yea, I have been looking at velocity, and I'm not seeing any sheer that says tornado, but you are right, there are warnings.

You missed them then... when I started the post, I was looking at 3 area's with circulation .... still they can pop up at any time so the important thing is that you know to keep your head up

Man, there are still tornadoes dancing around here. I moved from Jacksonville over here to Tallahassee, but didn't want to go any further because of the weather. Strong winds and still reports of tornadoes. Tomorrow, I will make my way back to Brewton Alabama and pick up a short load, then come back and grab another load going to Ft. Worth. Have not decided what I want to do from there.

Randy, went to download PLKY3 and it's $9.99. Would be great to have a radar that shows more than just a single radar station view. Ah well, maybe some other time.

First... PYKL3 has a composite USA map but I use another program for that actually... MyRadar which I have set to also show winds on a white background...

Now back to PYKL3, the free offer is only in the Amazon AppStore and they also have the paid copy there... at least it was there yesterday, two other friends downloaded and installed it. If they discontinued the free offer, they did it today.

ah ha, found it. It's still there, and I now have it, with a $1 credit towards something else later on. Seems like a pretty good app, especially for free. Thanks bro.

So it's been a while since I updated this thread, so I think it's time with the changes that are about to come about...

I have went 2, almost 3 weeks now without a paycheck. And let me tell you, I"m in a bad way right now. My bills at the house don't stop, my payments to my company don't stop, but the loads stopped. And when those stop, the pay stops.

It was because of this that I took the week of thanksgiving off. I delivered 180 miles from my house on a saturday, called about a load (I was going to run until wednesday) and she said there would be nothing until monday. NOPE! I took my ass to my house and parked the truck with 25 gallons of fuel in it ready to take it back and go back to my old company, whom wants me back.

I did a LOT of talking with the wife on what I was going to do and one thing she said stuck out to me. And it kept digging at me every time I was alone in front of the computer working on different projects I have going. She said "You joined this company to haul a flatbed, but you have never hauled a flatbed after getting screwed out of the one you had". And she was right.

So with that, First thing Monday morning (this morning) I called one of my agents and asked if he had a step somewhere with ramps so I can haul cars. He told me where one was and who to contact to get it. I called the guy and I'm still sitting in my kitchen and he says "you want a load to get you out of here?". Um YEA!! So, he hooks me up with a load before I even have a trailer going down to Florida.

So I'm giving this company one last chance before I cut and go back to my old company. If things will go right, I can make a lot of money here. But I need things to go right. The whole issue right now is I have not gotten a backhaul on any of my loads for the last 3 weeks. That means my pay on each load was cut in half every time. And I just flat can't do that. There was only ONE load that paid me to deadhead back and they doubled what they were paying for me to do it.

The guy I was hauling for before is quite upset but I told him that if he had backhauls worth a crap, if any at all, I would still be doing it. But now, I'm getting into what I tried to get into in the beginning.

Picture of my new trailer will be coming. I'm sitting in Russleville Ar. right now. Going to go to Little Rock and pick up some supplies in the morning, then head south and drop this box and pick up my step, get my load and head down to Florida where there is NO ICE STORM!!! lol.

I will let you guys know how all of this plays out. Knock on some wood for me. If this doesn't work out, I'm not sure where I'm going to go from here. I'm hurting pretty bad right now.

As promised, here is the picture of the new trailer behind my truck. I will try to get a picture of my load tomorrow when the sun is up. More than likely when I take the trailer to the shop to take the picture. Needs work, go figure...

Here's the first load with the new step deck. They already took 2 of them off the back in this picture. I was wanting to get a picture of it all strapped down. That was a janky job of strapping it down lmao. Gotta do what you gotta do though when you don't have enough equipment. But, here it is. 28 transformers from Arkansas to Florida. Working on a load now from South Carolina to Michigan. Doesn't pay much, but it keeps me rolling.

Good Luck Tony. Hope everything works out for you brother!

If you are coming up to Michigan from SC over the next week, you are in luck. We are supposed to have pretty good weather over the next week here in NE Indiana.

It's funny you say that. I just booked a load from Charleston SC to Grand Rapids MI. Then, hauling form Detroit back down to Atlanta.

LOL.. you mentioned you were going to Michigan.. Get some sleep dude!:biglaugh: You are going to have some good weather passing through here (NE Indiana and Michigan) In a way i envy you as I am sitting in my cubicle typing this. My grandpa was an over the road trucker back in the 40s and 50s. He always had great stories and I wanted to be him when I grew up.

Be safe out there brother!

lmao, I realized after I posted that, that I had posted before about it lmao. Yea, I was very tired lol.

It's easy to become a trucker, it's hard to keep being a trucker. I love seeing the country. Hell, right now, I'm sleeping at a truck stop in the Smoky Mountains in NC. Beautiful country down here.

I might be stopping somewhere near you. Not sure if I'm going to make it to Michigan tomorrow, and I need to take a reset. Might just stop in my home town of Muncie. Been years (over 20) since I stayed there.

RoadRunner... :)

Off topic perhaps... but hey, it's a roadrunner ... and flies ... :D

Just thought Tony may like a little diversion... with a slight bit of humor intended. Pardon the quality of the pic although it's not bad for a cell phone shot taken at a distance... they apparently can tell when you've removed your DSLR after having it there for a month from the truck to haul something else... :)

Stay safe Tony....

Well, made it to Fort Wayne, In. Decided to stay here until early Monday morning so I can get my reset in. Then, I will have all my hours for next week. Which is good seeing as I don't have enough hours to make it back down to Atlanta the way it sits now lol.
