Good stuff Dave. Is that the flying field near I55 and I355? I've been loving flying my plane and if you get one with the AS3X you'll really love it and the wind isn't an issue. I had a Beast same size as the one in the prior video. They are AS3X but the wind still tossed mine around quite a bit.

Lets get together and fly before the end of the summer.

It sounds like you have slow start on that ESC. You need normal start and brake on with a plane. Great flying!

Appreciate the comment about the flying too. Today will only be 3 mph winds, so the flights will be better balanced.

Got a new addition to the hangar coming this week.
Saw this fly at our local field and fell in love with it.
Phil's Hobbys in Ft Wayne had a sale recently and I think I snagged the last one for $159.99, another $20 shipped to my door.

Heard pro's and con's on the Panic Recovery of the SAFE technology. Some have hated it and swapped the RX. Others have said that a perfect mechanical trim will cure the auto level dips that others have experienced.
Me, I have never flown with any other rx with stability help but the UMX AS3X planes. I don't count the Orange3X I mounted on the Crack Pitts. That assist took my plane into a tree , even without my help.
It is a beautiful looking plane, you have to admit.

I almost bought one of these. Phil's Hobby Shop said that they ordered too many of these so they are knocking the price down so they can make the sale. Some people have said that they don't like the Agility Mode but I have flown this plane and I didn't have any troubles at all. I really liked it!

Not one of mine, but watched this pilot with a 36" Yak 54 profile foamy, then a Flying wing , and had to leave after this nice 3D flight.

Well I got a new bird last week. After watching several flights at the field near work, I had to contact NitroPlanes and buy myself the Neptune EDF wing. http://www.nitroplanes.com/02a-101-neptune-epo-blue-arf.html
Not much of a build on this baby. Gluing the two wings to the fuse, and then gluing on a few winglets. That's it!
My first EDF, first Elaron (sp?) controlled plane.






One of the mods needed on this bird is getting the ESC out of the canopy and into the fresh air. I opted to trim away a bit of the fuse behind the canopy. This allowed the ESC to drop in almost flush with the fuse and have the heatsink right where the intake to the EDF is. This also allowed me to shorten the motor wiring by about 4 inches. The bit of tape on the bottom is the COG point. This plane is very forgiving in exact COG placement.




I give you the actual Maiden Flight, cut short due to camera battery dying on me. Timer set to 6 minutes, but with the amount of deadsticking this plane can fly through will certainly yield at least 10 minute flight times.

On the third battery I had the right servo fail on me. I figured it out to be my fault. Over driving the servo with more than 100% throws in Elevator and Aileron. Upon failure the bird lifted its left wing and headed towards the earth.
Knocked off each wing and ejected the battery with velcro and plastic support. All due to lack of glue, which helped dissipate some of the energy. No damage to any foam. Just a re-glue and go.
While I had it on the bench, I took the time to airbrush some orientation marks on the underbelly. Basically the underside of the canopy pod, and the underside of the wingtips FastBlack.
Tossed it back in the air before the Bears game. Winds at a constant 15 MPH. This bird hardly noticed it.
Sorry the flight goes out of frame at times. It is a blast to fly. And the slow passes are truly a thing of beauty.

I have the stuff to put in there for sure. And it is an easy flier. I would want to put the Fatshark camera in the nose, enclosed in the fuse. So might have to wait till I do some front end damage before I put a hole in it.

Darn camera stopped at the end of the timer, but I had another 2 minutes air time before landing.
Next battery I was doing some low and fast drag racing along the downward slope of the hill I was standing at. The kids practicing soccer were entertained watching the wing come up from out of view and pull a quick u-turn before returning to the low path.
When bringing her in after the second battery, I was having difficulty landing in front of me due to the way this thing just floats in.
I attempted to turn around down field to head into the wind and tossed her right into a soccer goal. Spun my baby around and tossed her battery and canopy out of bounds. Picked up the pieces and put her right back up in the air.

Got the Sukhoi out for a couple more batteries. First battery was in the Stagility Mode, and she was snap rolling awesomely. Great climbs, an unexpected Hammerhead Stall, and some fast passes and inverted slower passes.
Went up for the second battery, took off in Stagility Mode and switched to AS3X assisted 3D mode.
Went up for a Prop Hang. Pulled out into an inverted loop, and when returning to level, the prop adapter spun off the motor. Prop adapter, Prop and Spinner as one piece eject leaving my honey without throttle at nearly 100 Ft up.
Really glad I had it in 3D mode because I used all that throw to pull an "Elevator" move to float her back to Tera-firma. A bit hard on the landing gear, it popped a couple foam chunks from under the LG mount. But aside from that, no other damage. A bit of foam glue set it back to flying condition.
I have practiced that Elevator move many times. Never thought I would be using it to save a plane.

Well, since last I posted I collected another in the hanger. A Hacker Super Zoom 3 from a local flier. Some minor build flaws that I corrected before the maiden. First flight went well till I got a bit far away and over corrected during a low loop and aileron rolled the bird in for a harder than what I wanted landing.
Plane fared out fine and losing just a prop. Feels good to post and share these again. (Thanks Tony)

I got the mCPx programmed into the new DX6 and thought I'd toss the 808 wide angle camera below the battery and see how it looked.
Not bad! A few laughs trying to keep the bird upright before lift off. The camera was lower than the skids and it just rocked on the camera case.
Finally had to hold the tail till the headspeed kept her level. And a hand catch to finish the flight. The V1 of this model was my first heli. Took me logging on to Rc-Help.com to get some control of it. Now, as you can see, the double brushless version is well under my stick commands in this somewhat small location.

Besides getting 5 FPV flights in on my Wasp 280 Quad today, I also got a pretty "HOT-for me" flight in on my Align-Tarot 450 DFC thingy.
My headspeed is a bit higher on Stunt 1 and I am not sure if you can hear the difference from my position one setting. Both Throttle curves still go to zero because I still have trouble finding that throttle hold switch, (As you can see in the end of the video).
This is one of the first flights after transferring the AR7200bx from the Blade 300 to this baby.
