Calm enough to take her outside this evening at dusk. A couple of wind gusts caught me off guard. This will be fun for late night-sticky-still summer nights while trying to empty brown bottles on the patio.

A couple flights from Tuesday mornings breaktime at work.
The 300x,

And the Tarot 450,

The 300x is getting smoother with the minor adjustments to the FBL unit.
The Tarot has gone past the point of intimidation, to becoming a treat to fly. I don't think I even break a panic sweat in the 5 minute battery times any more.

Thanks for the encouragement guys.
I took the 300x out at lunch today. Same location, same settings, different wind direction.
Spooled up the 300x and got her light on the skids and she wanted to tip backwards a bit.
Once in the air, i noticed the same, having to give forward cyclic to remain level. Thought it was either the wind, or maybe I had the heli on an angle when initializing. Not bad enough to stop me from flying with good control though. So I ran through that battery, starting to push myself with faster stick movements.
Here is that flight. The stop was to see if I had any subtrim set.

Wanting to see if it was an initialization error, I tossed in a second battery. Making sure I had a good level surface to power her up.
Getting up in the air I still noticed this backward drift that I did not have in the flight from 2 days ago. Feeling a bit more confident with my control, I did a quick piro and saw the imbalance I was feeling at hover. Still quite flyable, I continued on. At 3:57 is my first scheduled loop.
Without being in Idle up, I was in control of the head speed. I had enough forward motion to make the move with ease.
Confidence swelling, I pulled into position for another attempt at a loop.
Well, after watching the video, I did not start with forward motion and soon found out I did not have the pitch or head speed to pull me all the way through.
After a short dirt nap, I picked up the heli to assess the damage. Canopy, main gear, 2 servo gear sets and a feathering shaft.
Needless to say, not nearly enough damage to keep me from trying this move again tomorrow after the repairs.
Here is that flight, the visual inspection after crash, follow up flight test, and visual mechanical movement test.

The videos are uploading, the second video will be available first.
Thanks for watching and commenting.

Memorial Day weekend has started and I don't have to go back to work for another 10 days.
Gonna be a lot uploaded here in the next week. Beechy and I are heading out to our local park for a marathon flying session today.
Hoping to meet up with Kenjack after he gets off of work. We are on his way home and he is packing up a couple heli's to possibly join us. Fingers crossed.
So before I do a gear replacement in the 300x servos, I went out for a cup of coffee and a flight of the Vapor. This thing is going to be a lazy addiction, I can tell.

Well, plans fell short to hook up with Kenjack. We were off the field by 3 pm.
I did manage to catch a few videos from the keychain camera. Not all the videos were good flights. In fact, most of our day was spent overcoming things we forgot to bring, or check since last years flying season.
Started off after replacing a servo on the 150 DFC, took it out back to see how she turned out. Seems I now have that motor power problem strming from the multi-layered MRS.

Beachy got his Ares to bind to his new DX6i. First flight looked pretty smooth.

My first flight was the Rc-Help Trainer v2. The COG was about an 2 inches off due to improper battery placement. It appears my last fuse repair, the Gorilla Glue made a ball in the interior nose of my frame. When I slid the battery in, it stopped. When I looked under the motor hatch, I saw the Gorilla Foam blocking the next 2 inches.

My first attempt at a flight was the Rc-Help Trainer, (above), that was bound to a DX6i channel that used to be for the Rc-Help 540. Not only were the throws way off from the D/R expo settings, my aileron was reversed too. Man it's been a long time since I packed up for the park!

We took some time to play with Beachy's Blade SR, and binding it to the DX6i. We made some progress mellowing the sticks down to help him train.
The little gusts that would pop up, and also his feel for the sticks caused a heavy landing and a boom strike to take out his tail motor mount, boom and I am sure feathering shaft.

He packed that up and set out to Gamma again. Bad part of this flight, the controls got reversed from his first flight. WTH???
Being new to navigating the DX6i, when he was going through the menues to change back from the SR to the Ares Gamma, he some how changed the model type for the Gamma model. Kinda hard to fly a plane with Heli controls, even harder when they are reversed.

While he was doing a nose job on the Gamma, I got to take the Corsair UMX out for a face full of wind.

Beachy's second flight from my perspective.

My first heli flight was with the 130x, to show Beachy the tail sway I was having. After running some of the soft metal TT gears, they quickly wore down and have now damaged the bearings in the tailbox. I had no other replacement "C" gear, so I put on a used plastic one.
You will see the plastic one stood no chance when I gave it some throttle.

Back to the planes, I took out the Beast AS3X,

I know, Right??? Wheres the flight video?? I pushed the keychain button twice and shut it down instead of starting another recording
This was the maiden of this plane that I have had for 2 years now. I cannot believe how stable it was in the air. And nimble as heck. An unbelievable flight for my first one, and I took it for the full 5 minute timer. loops, rolls, inverts, dead stickin were all a blast.

Next did a quick flight with the 150 DFC. It's MRS problem brought it out of the air after about 1.5 minutes flight. No video of that one.

The Align/Tarot 450 went out in a big field. My first flight without worries of people, trees or backstops. What a beautiful flight. Caught many different transitional wind effects and handled them all smoothly. Beachy was impressed with the speed and maneuverability of my flight. The dumbest thing I did was not push the record button on the hat camera.
Beachy got the call from his kids and had to pack up to go. Before he left, I put a battery in the Bumblebee, powered up the Fatshark goggles. Beachy strapped them on and I took him for a flight. I wanted to get some feedback on what he was seeing and his impression og having control like this.
He was laughing out loud a few times as I tipped the quad forward for some quicker forward flight. He mentioned some minor Jello effect, a fraction of a second delay, and one or two times when I powered out of a mistake, the video would static a bit. Not sure if that was because I was using the same battery for flight and camera. Maybe it got a voltage drop, or the vibrations were too much under load.
No Hat cam video from that one , and I messed up not powering off the FatShark cam before pulling the battery. So the onboard video never finalized.

Before going out on Monday I took a look at the Tarot/Align 450 and saw the little shaft locking coupler would not tighten down to the shaft allowing the linkage rods to become out of alignment. The tweezers point to the bad part.
Tarot Head.jpg

Not finding much help locating just that piece, i spent the $40 for the Align 450 DFC Mair Rotor Head Upgrade Set.
New Head.jpg

Got her set up to fly safely once again. This head feels nice. Thanks to all the videos and build threads on here, I went through and cleaned and threadlocked all the metal to metal. And dabbed some light oil on all the bearings. The kit did not include the feathering shaft or thrust bearings, so I cleaned up the originals and greased up the bearings prior to putting them in the new head.
Looks nice. And becoming less Tarot and more Align.

As Requested. I give you Video!
I got 2 hours of flying in before it got too darn hot in the field.
Today's Line Up,
Line Up 20140530.jpg

First out, The second ever flight of the Beast after a bit of a welcome.

I thought I was having Battery issues, but the end of this flight showed the motor started to shut down.

The 300X getting out.

The Maiden of a Red Bull 130 bought from cn63Bug on here.

The 450 DFC head flight 1.

The second attempt at the Beast. ( I think it might have been this battery that I saw the motor cutting out).

And the second 450 flight. Did not have the battery power in the keychain cam to record the 3 flight of the 450 or the second 2 batteries in the 300x, or the 3 other batteries in the Red Bull.

I think the camera shut down during this flight^^^.

E-Flite Inverza 280
Maiden flight.

This thing can scoot, but can also give a nice scale flight too. First 2 batteries went without a hitch.
3cell 450mAh 40C battery under the hood.
Tomorrow I plan to get the flaperons and elevator balanced out.

Digging this 280. Almost got the flaps dialed in. A bit too much throw on my upper rates though. The landing was not perfect, but a legit belly landing. tail wheel caught the grass at a good clip and pulled the hinges from the vertical stab. 3 spots of foamy glue and time to charge the two packs I consumed. Almost ready to head out again.

Inspired by a recent video Tony posted, I tossed the 808 Key Cam onto my Inverza 280 and then my Twisted Hobbies Crack Pitts.
I really liked watching the tail feathers do their thing. The rudder is only visible through the cockpit in the Inverza flight. The Pits , you can see all the control surfaces
It was a pretty stiff 10 MPH wind. When I turn on the high rates, the wind seems to take a greater hold. It was all good fun.
