    450 X# flies again

It's possible if the timing was too low and the motor was losing synchronisation with the ESC. Thing is that i have a similar setup with similar HW ESC and Scorpion motor (main difference is lower Kv and 6s power) and mine runs fine, not too hot at all. I have 15 dreg timing and 30kHz PWM

    450 X# flies again

yeah, 1 degree was never going to make a significant difference. I'd try the ESC default setting (15 degrees i think)..

    450 X# flies again

As a general rule lower timing does run cooler (to a point) but if you are already at 5 degrees timing then you haven't got much to reduce it by. Like I said, with my Hobbywing ESC's I run the default 15 degrees on a range of motors and they all run well with no overheating, that includes the...

    450 X# flies again

Higher PWM generally if anything reduces motor temperature and is overall more efficient. It puts more load on the ESC but the ESC is designed for it, so it should be fine. Where I can adjust PWM I always set it to the maximum available and this has yet to cause me any problems. The Scorpion PWM...

600 Uri's Big bird build journal

I use the SAB horns on a couple of my helis, they are nice and chunky, I like them. Powering up the heli with the blade holder in place is something I guess we have all done, I bet you wont do it again though! Looking forward to the video, if you do one I promise to do one too (complete with...

    Goblin 770 this weekend

Uri did say it was ok for me to rip his idea off.. they do say the most sincere form of compliment is imitation! I had a few more flights of my helis this weekend but rain limited play yet again. I didn't shoot any videos because to be honest they would just look the same as the last one. My...

Kits Airplane Crash and Repair Example

It's quite easy to form canopies over a wooden former. There are a few ways to do it, the simplest just uses a pop bottle (PET type plastic) and you shrink it onto the former in an oven.

    Spektrum Spectrum DX6 battery settings

My guess is that the LiPo setting puts a sets the 'battery depleted' threshold to a higher voltage, as is required to protect a LiPo from over-discharge. This probably explains why the battery is shown as running down prematurely. This being the case no damage will have been done, the battery...

    450 Dominator shake

65% is very low, is that speed where the shakes were happening?

    450 Dominator shake

We are talking head gain too high, not tail gain. The fact that the tail blows out also points to head speed being too low. What throttle % are you using?

    Batteries Weird battery issue

By coincidence I just went to charge my batteries and one of my 6s 5000mAh was showing as 5s. The last balance wire on the 6th cell had cracked internally just where it connects to the pin of the balance plug. A little attention with the soldering iron had it fixed. It's easy to miss this when...

    Batteries Weird battery issue

Those balance leads do cause a lot of issues. The thin wires are prone to cracking internally or pulling away where they solder onto the battery. It's easy to short and burn the pins on the plugs when you plug them into a balance board too.

    450 Dominator shake

I wouldn't expect the TT tail to cause a shake on the skids. The usual cause of this is running too low headspeed and/or having the cyclic gain set too high. The Trex DFC heads have rigid dampers which only work well at higher RPM. This assumes the blades are well balanced and the tracking is...

    Batteries Weird battery issue

Sorry, I dont see any issue here other than a bogus error on the charger. A 'healthy' 6s battery can show total resting voltage anywhere between about 20v and 25.2V (3.3 to 4.2V per cell). 24.4V is perfectly ok, no cause for concern whatsoever. The cause of the error could be a few things...

FBL Gyro Align Gpro Steup Issues

Still sounds to me like you have the elevator and pitch (front right) servo swapped. When you do the '8 degrees' setting the elevator servo must stay still and the two front servos (aileron and pitch) should move in opposite directions (one up and one down) to tilt the swash to one side. If the...

450 3GX is driving me crazy

Google to the rescue!.. True enough the article I found did say it was only for flybar, i just didn't read it thoroughly enough. to be honest though the helicommand and similar add on stabilisers are quite 'old hat' these days. Now there are several flybarless controllers with far more advanced...

FBL Gyro Align Gpro Steup Issues

I'm with Tony. If the servo moves when you set zero pitch and sub trim then the servo is working. The problem must be somewhere else. My bet would be that it's connected to the wrong output on the Gpro (probably swapped with the elevator). When you try to set the 8 degrees does the elevator...

450 3GX is driving me crazy

I've no experience of the Helicommand 3D though in principle it should be a good little gizmo to help you over the initial hovering stage of heli flight. I did a bit of googling and apparently you can use the Hellicommand with 6 channels but to do so you use the Helicommand's own internal tail...
