    Paint Spray Guns

I was doing a bit of spray painting the other day and thought it worth sharing my thoughts on paint guns, from a strictly non-expert viewpoint. In the past I've used 'Badger' and similar airbrushes to decent effect but only for very small jobs and using very thin lacquer/enamel based paint. For...

    Batteries Tx battery question

It's even easier than that. The standard battery cover has a access hole that allows you to plug in the charger* without removing the cover, so it's a very slick solution. *In reality the 'charger' is simply a DC power supply. The actual charger circuitry is built into the battery module that...

    Batteries Tx battery question

Normal rechargeable cells should work fine, only slight inconvenience is that you have to remove them to charge. If you get the Spektrum Li-Ion battery it comes with a charging socket built in which you can see in the photo. You would also need to buy the Spektrum AC adapter SPM9551 to supply...

    General Longer Flight Times

The weather has been terrible here too Phil. Today actually looks good but of course I'm working. If the recent trend of the weekends being un-flyable due to wind and/or rain continues I'm going to have to change my habits and start flying after work.

500 ALZRC Devil 420 FAST - build log

Yep, as explained by Tony, the servo to swash links are fixed length. This is a good thing IMHO as it means they are all precisely the same length. The fully symmetrical servo layout with servos all on their sides means that adjustment of link length is not required regardless of the type of...

500 ALZRC Devil 420 FAST - build log

Someone pointed out that it didn't look right tilted back and resting on it's tail fin... so i suck a battery in to get it sitting right on it's skids: No more build progress to report as I'm still waiting on the electronics.

    Spektrum Separating the dx9 chassi.

Did my last post about tilting it forward help?

    Spektrum Separating the dx9 chassi.

I have a DX18 which is very similar to the DX9.. On my 18 all you do is remove the two screws in the rear of the antenna cover then the cover can be tilted forward, lifting at the rear edge where the screws came out of and pivoting on it's front edge. There are two clips at the front so you cant...

    Spektrum Separating the dx9 chassi.

Did you take the screws out? Once the screws are out there is nothing holding it in place.

450 I would be gratefull if someone could post a video.

Not really very relevant to your flybar 450, but it gives you an idea of the stability of larger FBL helis.. This is my Compass 7HV (700 size) hovering 'hands-off' with e $25 Kbar FBL controller:

Flight Stabilizers Upgrading my Microbeast with SL & Bailout

Also put the MSH Brain and the Spirit Pro on your list to consider. The Spirit will soon have GPS support which will bring in a while new world of rescue functionality (position hold, return to home etc)

Flight Stabilizers Upgrading my Microbeast with SL & Bailout

It has to be one of the new 'Microbeast Plus' units. The older Microbeasts dont have the hardware to support it. You need to buy the USB interface 'gizmo' so you can connect it to your PC then you use the StudioX software to pay for, download and install the update.

500 ALZRC Devil 420 FAST - build log

Yes, for sure it would. The Alzrc Devil 380 which has been in production for a while originally used the exact same design as the Goblin, basically a direct copy of the Goblin. Alzrc say that they changed to this new design to make changing the shaft easier. I suspect that the flanged shaft may...

500 ALZRC Devil 420 FAST - build log

Here's the devil 420 built except for electronics installation. Other than the fit of the boom and a bit of confusion over the difference between the main shaft design supplied vs that shown in the manual, it was all a very straightforward and enjoyable built. The quality and fit of all parts...

    General Fb vs Fbl

I'll add my voice to the chorus... I'd say FBL all the way, it's simply better in every respect. About the only advantage of FB in my view is if you are totally averse to setting up of electronic gizmos. Even the setup is a lot easier on most FBL these days. Most have a setup 'wizard' that...

500 ALZRC Devil 420 FAST - build log

One thing that I did come across that's not a fault as such but did have me scratching my head was the main shaft retention. The manual shows the main shaft to be the same as the Goblin and retained axially by two flanges integral with the shaft that are trapped between the upper and lower main...

500 ALZRC Devil 420 FAST - build log

Thanks, Yes, the quality in general is excellent, as good as anything else I've come across at this size. The one and only issue I've had is in the tail boom fit. Last night I assembled the tail and trial fitted the belt and the canopy. The build is a bit out of the sequence I'd normally build...

    General Finally nose in!!

Congratulations, it's a great feeling when it finally 'clicks'... Keep practising it because you get rusty if you don't.
