    Batteries 1S parallel charging concern

I parallel charge a lot, typically I'll parallel charge 12 packs in two sets of 6 every time I fly. Making sure that the packs aren't too far apart on connection is important for sure but I've found that there is a fairly wide range. 0.1V per cell difference (about 20% of capacity) is fine, in...

Micro About walkera wzq2 flybarless supercopter.

Bear in mind that Walkera have discontinued all of their heli range and now only make multi rotor 'drones'.. So even if you can find their helis as old stock the future spares situation is uncertain at best. Assuming you can find one... It looks like a lot to pay for such a small Walkera heli...

450 Mini titan 325 left side drifting issue.

It's natural for a heli to tend to drift left (for clockwise rotation main rotor). This is because of the tail rotor which pushes the heli sideways. To counteract this and achieve a static hover you have to slightly lean the heli to the right. The technical tame for this is 'Translating...

Chargers Solar charging for the RC Hobby test one

So I'm guessing that charge right out of the back of your SUV? The weight of those huge lead acid batteries (about 60Kg?) would be a big problem for me because at the place i fly most often I have to walk a couple of 100 yds from the car to flying site. Maybe i should try to find somewhere where...

    General Longer Flight Times

The Velos is an amazing heli for sure, I'd love to add one to my fleet sometime but I'd probably have to wait for one to show up second hand as i couldn't justify the new price. If you want maximum flight time and minimum field equipment/hassle a gasser converted heli is maybe worth thinking...

    Chargers New Parallel Charging System

I'm also interested in solar power but more for the technical aspects because it would never work for me in this part of the world where most flying days I dont even see the sun:(. The solar setups I've seen in fact use batteries as the main power source during charging (so you need large and...

    General Longer Flight Times

I've got a fair few 700 size helis and of them all the 700X seems to eek out the longest flight time on it's batteries. All setup for similar performance and using the very same batteries. There isn't a lot in it, but I think the 700X wth it's light weight and low drag all gear drivetrain does...

Chargers Solar charging for the RC Hobby test one

Nice setup Uri, So where does the solar bit come in? Is solar just used to top the batteries up between flying sessions?

600 Arming Castle Talon 90 ESC

Usually I end up with lower values than that but as long as it works all is good!

    450 Trex 450 3gx or beastx

If you want a cheap FBL you can pick up a Kbar for $25 or less.. They are a clone of the Vbar, far better than a 3GX

Micro Blade mCP X main rotor issue

I'm also not seeing anything out of the ordinary.

    General Longer Flight Times

Phil, You are right that deeply discharging LiPos is not good got longevity, but all that really means is that you should leave 20-25% in the battery.. Aim for 3.7-3.75V per cell measured after removing from the heli and you will be fine. This rule has served me well for years and I have...

    A big hello from Athens.

Welcome to the forum. Learning with a scale heli is doing it the hard way, but best of luck, I hope it goes smoothly.

600 Arming Castle Talon 90 ESC

To get it working properly you need to go through the whole setup process as shown in the video.. It only takes a minute or two once you get the hang of it: Set a straight line throttle curve 0 -50 -100% Go into servo setup in Tx and reduce throttle upper and lower travel adjust to +40% and...

500 ALZRC Devil 420 FAST - build log

Sorry for the complete lack of any building on this build thread:( Reason being that the Devil 420 is still in transit. It shipped by Singapore post which means that it first gets taken from China to Singapore and only then does it get routed to final destination country. It took a week to get...

    600 Compass 500 Stretched ... Issues REsolved

Good that you got it sorted... got any pics of the Compass? I have a Compass 7HV but it's stripped down to the airframe at the moment because I borrowed it's electronics for another heli, i need to get it back in the air sometime soon.

    700 700X First Mods

Where did you get the arms from Phil? It's worth checking that the arms on the two front swash servos dont hit the metal motor mount stiffener and/or the upper frame member under full travel. To check for contact apply full positive collective then move the cyclic stick around in the bottom...

600 Arming Castle Talon 90 ESC

Castle ESC's have a unique process for calibration of the throttle range which needs to be done when you set up the ESC. Here is a video explaining how you do it: Note that when you do the throttle calibration you need to use a linear 0 -50 -100 throttle curve, but once the calibration is...

    450 Trex 450L Pitch Curve

IMHO your pitch curve looks fine for gentle flight. I think your problem is your throttle curve. The idea with a CP heli is that the rotor RPM should remain constant and 'up and down' is controlled with collective pitch change only. If you have a steep slope throttle curve the RPM will change...

    500 Tear down question

I have to admit that i dont check mine very often, maybe once a year or if I start to feel slop or notchiness. So far on larger helis I dont recall needing to change a thrust bearing due to wear, I've just greased them and put them back in and they work as good as new.
