Bear in mind that in reality nothing reverses, it just appears that way relative from the position you are standing. For elevator, if you think of it that forward stick pushes the nose of the heli away from the rotor and back stick pulls the nose toward the rotor, that works in any orientation

I’ve seen them shear on bigger helis, the 6mm shafts on the big Align 850MX motor seem to be quite vulnerable. On a smaller heli I’d also guess that the shaft either had been bent slightly in the earlier crash or the gear mesh was much too tight
