I’m at the tedious part installing servos and the tail boom is next. plan on working on it this weekend if possible. I repaired my DX 5 TX and hope to use it for the simulator training I need to start practicing. If all goes well I hope to take this bird to the local flyin in may to buzz around down there .

You could sand the arms a little bit, but on a heli this size, I have run it many times without a nut. Never had one back out on me.

Yea that’s the only option I see with some ca glue . Just Leary of it taught about sanding down plastic arm so nut treads up . Just hate to bugger up my new heli and don’t want a mechanical failure for sure . It’s just crazy it’s not fitting. pulling up enterprize hobbies vid to see what there build does

Ok not understanding this all photos show nut installed . The tail and cyclic servos arms horns are same thickness but treads on balls for cyclic are off by .5 mm

It's unlikely, but they could have put the wrong balls in the package. I would contact who you purchased the kit through and see if they can send you some balls with longer threads and tell them the issue. Who knows, you may just get a set sent to you. And you can still keep building and setting up, then just replace the balls when you get them.

In the 'brochure' photo you posted of he finished 470 you can actually see that the threads dont go all the way through the nut, looks like the nut just catches one thread which isn't good.

It's worth checking with your dealer, you cant be the only one to have had this issue

Here's another potential way to fix it:

Find a screw of the right size for the nut. Fit the screw with a large washer and put it through the hole in the arm from the side the ball fits. Put the nut on the screw and snug it down.
Now the tricky bit; Heat the nut with your soldering iron while tightening the screw. Once you get the nut hot enough it will soften the plastic and embed itself. Once it's sunken in by about half a nut thickness that should be enough to allow the thread on the ball to get a bite of the nut.

PS when you get the nut on, when tightening the ball only tighten to finger tight. Use red Loctite to fix the nut. These balls are made from stainless steel which is relatively weak so it's very easy to overtighten them and yield the threaded part which may then break off in use.

As far as the pictures go, they do look longer. Not sure if they will be though. One thing you can do is hit up google with the part number and there should be some info out there somewhere on the length of the threads.

Those balls have self tapping threads (T2.6) which are designed to tighten direct into the plastic of the arm with no nut. They should work providing the arm is thick enough for them to get a good 'bite' and the hole isn't too big. You wont be able to fit a nut though. If you do use them lock them with CA glue (not thread locker).
