Never have and never will. I have tried other "pencil" irons and they suck. Once I purchased my Hakko, I never looked back. I have a butane soldering iron, but I just use it as a pencil torch. Hell I don't even know where that thing is lmao. It's somewhere around here.

Hakko. ??? I’ve been looking for a good soldering iron there expensive . bout like chargers you get what you pay for it seems. I use a pencil and butane at work for larger components this smaller stuff I guess I need to step up to a good setup with grabbers and magnifying glass, figured ide try out this cheap for now

Yes, Hakko is expensive and you are right, you get what you pay for. All Hakko's are fully grounded, even the case so there is no chance of static electricity killing your components you are working on. The ONLY thing I have had to replace on mine is the plastic handle because I was pushing WAY too hard and snapped the handle. My fault completely and not Hakko. Nothing a $10 bill wouldn't fix.

My tip, I have had the same one since I purchased it about 10-15 years ago (I have no idea when I got it lol). But if I ever upgrade to digital (mine is the 636) I can assure you, I will be going with another Hakko. Really thinking about getting one just to have another one so I don't have to keep dragging mine from my office to the studio to the garage...

Cool info I will check out the Hakko sets some things isn’t worth cheaping out on when it comes to tools. You bring up a good point talking about static electricity thanks

You know me (hopefully by now with my videos lol). If I can cheap out on something, I will. Look at all of the clones and chinese aircraft I have... Even putting ALZRC servos, motor and a hobbywing ESC on my Goblin 380. I just couldn't see spending an egregious amount of money on those. But on something that I only have to purchase once (charger, mine is the iCharger 306b, soldering iron, Hakko 936, pitch gauge, align, the list goes on lol), I try to purchase quality so I don't have to worry about it. From what I hear, the hakko 936 clones work. Temp control is questionable, the case is not grounded and the electronics and soldering is questionable. I have thought about trying to get one just to test side by side to the real thing. I know there are videos, but I like my own testing lol.
