    General 3gx and binding issues

Uri, Yes the raptor 30 does seem to have been the default heli trainer. That was before my interest in helis though, I was still fixed wing only back then. The Raptor 30 was in today's size classification a 550 (it used 550mm blades).

    Motors Motor maintenance

There is no way that the motor bearings, even if they were worn out, could cause the main gear to strip. Like said already, if the motor did lock up that would not cause the main gear to strip because the OWB cant drive in reverse. The main gear would simply stop turning along with the motor. I...

    Motors Motor maintenance

The motor stopping quickly wouldn't be expected to strip a gear, the freewheel looks after that. The motor and main gear can stop suddenly but the rotor can keep spinning so no reason for the gear to strip, there is nothing driving it. So I'm thinking of a couple of things... maybe you have...

    General 3gx and binding issues

'back in the day' before electric helis most people started on something close to what we call a 600 size helis. The big difference though was most people back then learned in a club environment with plenty of guys around to help them build and set the heli up and coach them when it came to...

    700 600 vs 700

I'm not into scale but I recall reading that the DFC head doesnt work with some scale bodies because it's too low, they prefer the standard type flybarless head. I'm guessing that's why Jim is going for the KDS head?

    General Quick question...

If the heli was properly set up before then you should be able to set it up again without a pitch gauge.. having said that though, it would be handy to have one and they are pretty much essential tools which you will use many times in the future, so IMHO you might as well get one.

    700 600 vs 700

What air-frame would you go with for the 600? The choice is quite limited unless you go the clone route. The Trex 600L is not yet officially discontinued but they are hard to find, i think they are just selling off old stock. Also the 600L airframe isn't ideal for sport or scale use because the...

450 tail rotor not working as i spool up.

That is odd.. You could be right with the tail grip bearings. I've not seen it first hand but i've heard of problems with thrust bearings in the tail grips causing the tail to lock up under centrifugal load.

450 tail rotor not working as i spool up.

It's caused by vibrations interfering with the gyro. If the heli has had a crash then most likely something is bent.

Batteries Charge current for 1500 mAh

A 1c charge rate should work which would be 1.5A for a 1500mAH battery. I'm guessing they are NiHh batteries not NiCd? I was under the impression that NiCd were banned ages ago ?

    450 450L Dominator 6S motor issue

Correct, there are 'wedges' installed that limit the stick travel on the throttle stick only. I removed them on mine because for heli flying I found the shorter travel range made collective too sensitive.

Quad New member.FC all in one, compatabilty with Taranis qx7.(frsky

I cant really comment on what the specific differences are between the different EU / non-EU models as i'm not as FRSky user. Personally I'd not loose sleep about it being an official EU version. It's technically illegal in the UK to sell transmitters that dont meet the latest EU regs but once...

    Firefly 8S with 'non-distortion' lens

One of the problems I've found with most action cams when used for RC flight video is that the wide angle lenses they come with makes the plane/heli seem really far away and very small, plus you get annoying fish eye distortion of the image. When I saw that the new Firefly 8S 4k action cam had...

    Micro 180 cfx tail gain

General rule is keep increasing gain until the point that oscillation just starts to occur if fast flight and/or under hard collective... then back down a few % from that point. If you still have issues after that then you can start getting into the more advanced settings such as stop gains etc...

    JR how to setup heli

The Turnigy 3D-H V2 is a clone of the old version of the BeastX Microbeast, so you need to dig out the manual for the old Microbeast.

    General 3gx and binding issues

You can get away with 6 channels. Ideally you would want at least 7 but 6 will work. Gains can be set to be adjustable in the iKon/Brain software so not need a channel assigning. You would usually want a channel assigned for bank switching (to turn stability on/off and activate 'rescue) but a...

    General 3gx and binding issues

Keep us informed on progress. You will have LOTS of questions when it comes to installing and setting up the new flybarless controller, dont be afraid to ask. The good thing is that the iKon will be a lot easier than the 3GX.. Tony is the best man for the iKon though as I've not used one.

    General 3gx and binding issues

If you get the iKon make sure it's the latest 'iKon2', not some old stock of the original iKon.. Not that there is anything wrong with the original one, but you may as well get the latest and greatest version. 6 channels is enough for the iKon. PS.. you will need to be able to connect the RPM...

Quick video of a shakedown flight with the new 515mm blades and slant gears fitted. It's much quieter with the slant gears.
