ESC Hobbywing Hv130a V4 Setting Up

Careful that the screws aren't too long. If too long they can stick through the baseplate of the motor and rub on the winding wires, possibly causing a short. Ideally they should be flush with the top of the beseplate of the motor.

What heads are on the screws? If they are conventional cap head screws then use some button heads, they are lower profile. Most motors use button head screws for this reason.

    Lockdown Flying Anyone?

Lockown here is supposed to being very lifted slightly from Thursday. Outdoor hobbies/sports are 'legal' again providing distancing is respected. That should allow club fields to open again. In the meantime i got out under the radar again: Testing a new upgraded tail belt and 'speedup' pulley...

ESC Hobbywing Hv130a V4 Setting Up

That will work fine:) I've got a spare Ultraguard if you need one. It needs a new battery but otherwise it's like new hardly used. The battery went bad in storage.

    Lockdown Flying Anyone?

Indoor flying doesnt give you much room for errors, and everything you can hit is hard and unforgiving. Hope you get it fixed soon.

    FBL Gyro Ikon2 Question

Level calibrates on each startup. The angle of the heli doesn’t matter because the accelerometers in the 6 axis sensor detect the direction of gravitational force. gravity is always straight down regardless of how the heli is positioned.

    General Moment Of Thought

You could fully build it and add electronics later. There is good access to install everything so nothing needs to be ‘built-in’

    General Moment Of Thought

I’m pretty sure you would love how it builds and flies. I didn’t much like the Stock SAB blades, Azure blades seem to work much better, that’s what I’m running now

    General Moment Of Thought

The Kraken doesnt use any plastic in load bearing frame/mechanical parts. The black parts are anodised aluminium, not plastic. The tail boom mount of the Kraken is all new. Hard to say it it's 'better' than the previous Goblin but it's certainly different. The Kraken has a beefy alloy plate...

    General Moment Of Thought

I'm not a fan of three blade heads, they look nice but you pay for it in flight time so I stick with the two blade heads. The Kraken builds very well, a very enjoyable build and really well engineered heli overall.

    General Moment Of Thought

There is nothing cheap about the Kraken materials, but I'm sure SAB do have healthy margins. I'm in the UK too. The prices in the USA are no cheaper once you factor in VAT. For example the yellow version of the Kraken is $1158 in US dealers: SAB Goblin Kraken 700 Electric Helicopter Kit...

    General Moment Of Thought

The Kraken used more advanced materials than any previous Goblin. It's got 7075 alluminium alloy head (much stronger than the normal 6061 alloy) and the lightweight (yellow) version has titanium shafts to save a few more grams. All the bodywork and frames are carbon fibre. Like I said the...

    General Moment Of Thought

The Kraken 700 is a very nice heli to built. SAB but a lot of thought into details like cable management which along with the excellent manuals make the build a real pleasure. Lots of nice little touches show SAB have really thought about every small detail. The head is slightly different to...

    General Moment Of Thought

Gaui aren't very well stocked in the UK. Align-Trex.co.uk do keep them but most models are out of stock and not much in way of spares. The Trex 500XT (personally i'd take the belt version) and 550X are a nice helis, quite different in size though, the 550 is a much bigger heli. Great value in...

    General Moment Of Thought

I have heard of a few quality problems with SAB kits recently, minor things which SAB always sort out quickly, but irritating. I understand that SAB switched to a different manufacturing facility in Vietnam recently so possibly just some small teething troubles. Materials on their high end...

Coming along nicely. It's a simple design so builds quickly.

Micro The Oxy 2 Sport On 215s

Do you know anyone with a FPV drone that could perhaps stage a rescue attempt?.. Though the risk obviously is you end up with a drone stuck on the roof too! I hope one way or another you get it back soon. even after a couple of weeks most of the heli should be ok. Even it's it's rained, the...

    Micro Align Trex 150x

Pretty much my experience with various micro CP helis over the years (including a Trex 150). I've literally gone years without a crash on any big heli. With micros on the other hand I'm lucky to ever take them home in one piece. Working on them is also fiddly and frustrating. They inevitable...

Need Help Choosing Expensive Rc Cars

'Expensive' doesnt really give anyone much to go on. Once man's 'expensive' is another mans 'cheap junk'. There is a vast price range and also a vast range of different types of car within any price range. If you even had a picture of the type of car you have in mind it would help?

    Goblin 570 First Build

You dont need any special cable. Sure you can buy series harnesses but i wouldn't recommend them because they add unnecessary connects and wire length. Two ways I would recommend: 1. Use single pole 'bullet' type connectors. This way you dont need to do anything special at all. You connect the...
