    700 This is different

I share your concerns. The lower frame does appear weak, especially the front landing gear leg mount. This is an issue on the Kraken 700 too. In the case of the Kraken, the lower side frames are strong enough (and are cross-braced at the rear) but their attachment to the main frame 'spine' is...

    700 Have a rookie question?

I'm assuming due to reference to satellites that you have a Spektrum Tx? The Microbeast only supports one satellite receiver, which would definitely not be recommended for a 700. If you go with a 'full' receiver it's much better to go for one that has SRXL or SRXL2 output. This means that you...

450 Align Trex 450 Pro v2, rapid loss of altitude while in stationary hover

What's your experience level?.. If you are still learning then this could just be normal behavior that you have to get used to. Due to 'transitional lift' effects that Tony mentions, even quite light wind gusts will make the heli suddenly climb or descend. The effect is far more pronounced in...

    500 excessive insulation Clarence

Geena, The reason they say that is because the winding wires have a lacquer coating that you cant solder to, and which is extremely difficult to remove**. So if you cut off the pre-solder tinned end of the wire you have a very big problem soldering the bullets back on, hence the 'irreparable...

    700 Kraken powerloss

Good that you found the problem. I was going to say, it looked like failsafe activating either due to brownout or a receiver 'hold' (lost reception). Having a FBL/receiver that does data logging and RSSI telemetry is invaluable for diagnosing (or avoiding) this type of issue, takes all the...

    500 excessive insulation Clarence

You can trim the wires providing you don't remove all of the solder 'tinned' end of the wire. As long as you leave enough of the tinned part to make the solder joint into the connector you are ok.

    General Interesting - Direct Drive

yes, they take a standard DSMX satellite receiver. You need the type with a bind button or you can use a standard receiver to bind the satellite.

    ESC Kontronik ESC

Very nice setup. Kontronik kit just screams 'Quality'. I got a Pyro 750 second hand off one of the Kontronik sponsored UK team guys. It's a fantastic motor. Despite being used by him in contests and displays for a couple of seasons it still runs like new. The only strange thing is that the...

    General Interesting - Direct Drive

I put mi M2 in HARD last week, thgis was my firts crash with an M2. I was just trying something new and I lost it, totally my fault. It went in at full power at high headspeed, I didn't gave time to hit throttle hold or rescue. Luckily it hit where the grass was long and ground was soft and wet...

    450 450 L tail issues

Hi Chris, Couple of suggestions: 1. Make sure that your tail servo is set to the correct 'centre point pulse width' in the AR7200 setup. If it's a standard Align tail servo that will be 1500 or 1520us 2. Check that the tail gain in the Tx (channel 5) is not set too low. Something like +40% is...

    General Interesting - Direct Drive

I liked the M2 so much I did a deal with OMPHobby to sell them here in the UK. It's genuinely the first micro heli that I enjoyed flying. https://www.scotiarc.co.uk/omphobby/

General Need a bit of help with my Sab Goblin 570,

Check your pitch curves again. The only thing i can think that would do this is if you had a pitch curve in normal mode that gave you more positive pitch. What FBL are you using? If it's a Neo check that the 'lightness' settling is the same in all flight modes. Or the other sure fire fix...

    ESC Kontronik ESC

Nice! I'm a big fan of the Kosmik ESC, I've got them on a few helis. Rolls Royce of ESCs as far as i'm concerned. Kontroniks aftersales support is great too. I had a Lipo fire on one of my helis and the ESC was badly burned. I sent it off to Kontronik and they repaired it for a very reasonable...

    600 Hello, I’m New Here...

The Raptor 30V2 has mechanical mixing, so you don't need any swash mixing in the Tx (it's similar to a flybarless heli in that respect). Just set the swash type to 'normal' or 'single servo'

    Scale Spirit Fbl Users

You can set expo in the transmitter in the usual way Reducing rotation speed in the sensor tab of the Spirit software will slow response, similar to using rates in the Tx

    Motors Motor Continuous Watt Calculation

Maximum current (Amps) will occur when the battery voltage is at a maximum (i.e when it is fully charged). A decent battery fully charged will easily hold 3.7V per cell under load, so I'd use 11.1V for the maximum Power (Watts) calculation. As the battery depletes voltage in the battery drops...

    Batteries Confused About Mah

I flew my XL520 with packs in range 3600 to 4500mAh. With the smaller packs the battery had to be well forward. With the longer boom of the 550 and the smaller packs, CoG is likely to be a problem

    Batteries Xt90 To Xt60

On rule of thumb is that if the battery/ESC wire is too 'fat' to fit into the connector then you are probably using too small a connector. A 550 heli can easily pull 150A spikes if flown hard. In the XT range of connectors, the XT90 would be the one usually used for anything '500' and up...

    Batteries Xt90 To Xt60

XT60 is a bit small for a 550. As long as you don’t fly too hard it will probably be ok but best check the connector after flying to make sure it’s not getting hot. You don’t want it de-soldering itself
