Cases A new charger build

Hello M,

Is this the case you used for the 12sr?

Stainless Steel Toolbox

or this one?

20" Stainless Steel Toolbox

Unfortunately, we don't have a good range of cases or boxes on hand here, we have to import anything that would have been suitable. The freight costs made this prohibitive, so much so, freight cost more than the case itself.

Once my ground station is built, that is it. No more money spent on that. Hence, I did get the two PL8's with the idea of future expansion taken into account and not having to redo anything. Not just that, the charger can be put to other uses beside RC models.

For ultimate portability, a Honda 2kW genny is a desirable item, but that's way down the track.

Does that allow the PSU to be mounted directly underneath the charger?

Looking at the depth of the case, it seems more like the PSU will mount along side it.

The case is not too heavy either. That's a huge advantage over mine.

This is what my charger looks like. I think this was with two different temp lights. One cool, and one warm, but the camera made them look the same.

yeah my case will have the PSUs setup like tony's but I will have the charger right in front of the PSUs under the deck. I will need to run wires so I can access the connections without issues.

Tony had his external to the case. If you notice there are to bind posts in the deck, that's his charger plug in.

I know I can make it a lot more clean, and yes, I know you should NEVER charge your batteries on top of your charging case lol. I did this for the video and Matt and I were standing right there with it the whole time. Might need to work on this to tidy it up a bit... See what you all are doing? Creating more work for me hahahahha.

Your right, I do. I have to get rid of them as soon as possible lol. Remember the 450 and the 600 wiring? lol.

I have the same feeling about it in my case also. I want the cables to be stored away nice and neat. Two reasons, one it will look good and two air flow. I know the case is big enough for air but the less restriction on flow the better.

It makes it easier to service and change things around. A bird's nest is never a pleasant thing to fault find.

Also chaps, always leave enough slack in the wiring to allow modifications, don't make it too tight.

Before the day is out I will be purchasing some small bits for the case. What's on the list: 10 awg PRC wires (black and red 3' of each), new prc EC3 connectors (4 sets) and shrink tube (black and red for the 10awg wire).

Now I need to find ring ends for 10awg wire. Looking at a crimp style since my soldering iron is not powerful enough for 10awg wire.

All parts are coming from Progressive RC. Getting closer, just need the charger and charger boards. After that its just some small stuff like Velcro and acrylic for the deck.

Almost done.

My order came in today. The wire feels like it is a real high quality wire, not to stiff but not to floppy either. Got my 4 new sets of PRC EC3 connectors and shrink tube for 10 awg wire. Now I need to find a decent quality ring end connector for 10 awg wire. i am still looking and found many options just need to order something or go to radio shack.
