Time to upgrade

I have not flashed any board for a 3D printer, but I have been wanting to to play with the different firmware. But, I use OctoPi so I do everything over the network in GUI, so it removed my need to flash anything.

But I have thought about going to the touch screen. I think it would be easier.

Hey Jared, did you get the 4.2.7 board installed yet? I just installed mine and F-ing wow, what a difference.

I did but I think my display may be out. I can control it with cura and the steppers move but nothing on screen. I ordered a new screen which will be here sometime today. And yes the difference in sound is very nice!

Tony Did you get the one that I did? I'm curious as I sent the first one back thinking something must have been wrong with it. Supposedly it was already flashed with ender 3 pro firmware so you should have been good to go right out of the box. If I replace my screen and nothing works I'm sending the screen and board back and scrapping this printer.

I did not have to repin anything on mine, it was a direct swap. In fact, the plugs almost ended in teh exact same place, with the exception of the extruder fan. That plug is just slightly off.

I did not purchase the one that you purchased, I actually went out on a limb and purchased the touch screen combo. There were only 4 reviews and most were bad. But, it's amazon, if it doesn't work, I get my money back. Well, I installed it, and it just works (after I located the correct firmware that is). I also put the CR Touch on there as well, which OMG... I should have done WAY sooner.

I did get the dual drive extruder as well, but took it off since the ratio is so far off, and it was digging into it's own body. Below are all of the parts that I have put on it this time.

I hope you get yours going, but if not, I may have to work out a deal with you. Keep trying and post up if you have questions. As stated above, I didn't have to swap pins on anything, and I have the 4.2.7 board. Here to help if I can.

Oh, one thing that I did notice on my old board is my Z axis driver heat sink does have discoloration, so it definitely got quite hot. Which is weird as it is the least used axis.

I think the Z axis is discolored due to it having to hold itself in one position. The stepper simply locks up and only moves when it needs to go to another layer. That's my take on it.

And I noticed on my silent board that the heatsinks are much taller than the stock board. So that may be an upgraded feature.

Yes, definitely more cooling capacity. But I'm absolutely loving how quiet this thing is. Now to upgrade the fans to quiet them down lol.

I ordered a replacement screen yesterday and it was supposed to be delivered today. I saw where it showed up to the local post office but left and went an hour away to another PO. WTF Usps?

HA! No sooner than I typed the last msg than I checked the status. It said it's delayed due to arrival at an incorrect facility. Good catch USPS. Good catch...

hahaha, yea I work in retail and we are seeing a lot of issues with all of the major carriers. There are just far too many packages these days for their capabilities.

Check the tracking again after a while, and that line will go away as they do not like to put things in public view that is their fault. It will end up saying "In Transit, Arriving Late"... Good old government workers!

And you are correct sir. It says my package 'may be delayed', and 'we're working to get your package back on track'. *sighs*...what can you do...??

I should get it maybe, hopefully, if the planets align and the moon phase is correct, by Tuesday.

In their defense, I would much rather use them than FedEx. FedEx can never seem to get packages to the right house in my neighborhood.

I got my screen in today and it does nothing either. I have tried to flash the mainboard with ender 5 firmware and it does nothing. This printer is bricked. I guess I'll just get a new one and maybe in the future toy with turning this one into a laser cutter or something.
