I recently got a good deal on some 50cal ammo cans at walmart. I thought I'd post how I did my insides. I used some scrap foam I got at work and lined the can and created some partitions. I can store 15 of these 1550mAh batteries. I used a piece of the foam to cover the battery leads so they don't touch the metal lid.



I don't have many stickers for box bling but I'm sure these will do just fine!

P.S. - The foam is 15mm thick.

Putting random batteries in the other can. I just cut pockets for them.

I will need to get some thin foam for the sides on the last one. I don't like those connectors touching metal.

I actually think the RCH logo looks good on the dark green. That photo doesn't do it justice. It's really brighter in person.

Just make certain the boxes don't seal and can vent... otherwise if a battery fails you may end up with a square pipe bomb

They do have seals. I can remove them though. Either that or add holes.

The foam was packing material for something at work. It's not regular foam. I think it's PP or PE.

I just want to rant about this foam I used. I hate it. I FREAKING HATE IT! Yes, it looks pretty good but I want to secure it so the partitions don't move around. I have absolutely no glue except for hot glue that will somewhat adhere it. Even then, the hot glue melts it almost to the point that I can't get the pieces to stick due to it melting down into the foam. I will be using some regular foam from now on. Something with smaller pores that can accept double sided tape. Polypropylene foam is almost impossible to adhere to. Packing material...that's all it's good for.

lol, my first thought was you could cut slots for the separators to fit and slide into. Then no glue needed.

I use a product called SikaBond - TechGrip in Australia which is a Polyurethane glue, I think it is available in the USA under the name SikaBond - Ultimate Grab.
I use it on a similar foam to you are using only white in color.

I wonder if that's the same stuff as Liquid Nails? Does it have a vinegar odor like silicone?

You could use silicone... just sayin'

Silicone is one of the adhesives I didn't think about actually. But the stuff I have has vinegar in it and I would be worried about corrosion from the fumes.

That smell will go away once it is cured.

No it has kind of a sweet smell ! hard to describe.

I was at hobby lobby over the weekend and found some glue that I wanted to try. It claimed to adhere foam. To my surprise it does the job very well. Matter of fact, it is made for the type foam I have in my ammo cans. EPP foam. $5.99.
