General Gaui or Goblin? That is the Question

Cant argue with any of that. The 600 class does seem to be in the doldrums lately. Probably most people think that if they are going to go to a 12S power 'big bird' then they might as well go the whole hog and get a 700. If there are only a few $ difference in price I'd do the same. But.....I...

    600 Trex600 efl with SK720 and GPS

I've done a little bit of Googling and the error does appear to be down to us having different firmwares. It's not the sound files but the Tx firmware itself that is the issue. I'm at firmware VERSION 1.06A (5 FEBRUARY 2016) which is the latest I have available listed on Spektrum Community web...

    600 Trex600 efl with SK720 and GPS

I'm not sure what to do, I could try exporting the file again but i dont imagine it will give any different results. To be honest though the setup is relatively straightforward because the flybarless controller looks after all the CCPM mixing etc.

General Gaui or Goblin? That is the Question

Uri, what dont you like about the 630? I picked up one mainly because it was priced too good to refuse, but I've been nothing but happy with it. As standard they are heavily loaded because they share mechanicals with the 700/770 which makes them very heavy for a 600 class heli. They will...

    Beyond My Hover

Good work Phil. The nose in hover is a good skill to practice but is not absolutely essential to master it before progressing into forward flight and circuits. I know of a few quite experienced heli flyers (one with decades of experience) who cant do a nose in hover to save their lives, yet they...

General my first trex 450 sport build

The manual is about as good a guideline as there is. 'How to wire up a heli' is a hard thing to describe in words.. sorry. Maybe if you posted some close up photos we might be able to spot any obvious problems.. Does it actually work? Best option of all is to find a club or experienced flyer...

General Gaui or Goblin? That is the Question

I agree, the 380 does seem to be a little overweight for a 380 and the 420 is probably the heli it should have been all along... But still, if money was not a consideration i'd take the Goblin 380. But as i said in the first post, it's really not a fair comparison because money is a...

PS.. welcome to the forum! So what other RC stuff have you got in your fleet?

General Gaui or Goblin? That is the Question

Well I guess money no object it would be the Goblin 380. it's a bigger heli and generally 'higher spec'. (taking nothing away from the X3 which sits at a lower price point). FWIW SAB have just announced a Goblin 420 which is a stretched version of the 380. That might be worth considering too...

General Gaui or Goblin? That is the Question

Neither SAB (Goblin) or Gaui make a traditional 300 size heli. The Goblin 380 (380mm blades) is the smallest in their range but in size it is in between a traditional 450 and a 500. The Gaui X3 is the smallest they have but that's also a 'stretched' (360mm blade) 450. The Goblin 380 is a lot...

    600 Trex600 efl with SK720 and GPS

I have the same Tx and same heli so i can use my Tx setup file if you like?.. It will at least give you a starting point though you will still have to go through the setup routine and also set the throttle endpoints for the ESC calibration. It's attached...

    my extended fleet

Nice fleet! In your idle up flight modes try a 'V-shape' throttle curve. So that would look like about 80% in the centre (at zero pitch) and 100% at both extremes of the pitch range. The idea is to have more throttle when you are using full collective pitch, so as you dont get 'bogging down' but...

    FBL Gyro Ikon2 Setup Issue

Your video says it's been 'removed by the user' so i cant see it. In the video above yours I'm assuming he was using a 3GX.. That looks like a classic case of 'Rudder locking gain' too high in a 3GX. This is something specific to the 3GX so unlikely to be your issue if you are using a different...

Nice heli, I'll be watching it come together with interest. I've never owned a Gaui but maybe one of these days if one comes along at the right price!

    FBL Gyro Ikon2 Setup Issue

+1 on Tony's request for a video. There are so many potential things it could theoretically be that without a video it's just a crap shoot. Some close up photos and a video of the the swash and tail movement would be good too. End of the day the quality of the help you get is only as good as...

Spinning when you spool up almost always means that you have tail gyro response reversed.

    Boring

It's a lot more exciting then discharging them on the charger! I got a few flights in myself today, conditions were not quite the cloudless blue sky in your videos but for Aberdeen it was a great day: www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1Gih0xuLBU

    Beyond My Hover

I'm officially very jealous! The discount has been extended a few times due to the delayed shipping, so hopefully the money off will be still available when you press the order button. I might have to put one down on my Christmas list too!

    450 goblin 380 help

I missed the video when it was posted, nice neat job on the wiring! The 380 looks good. It's quite heavy for it's size so needs pretty high headspeed according to most reports. SAB have just released a 420 size Goblin which appears to be a stretch of the 380, so that one would be worth...
