    600 Shimz

ok, I understand now. I used a shim on mine as you suggested, between the lower bearing support and the main gear. I also have a small gap between the bottom of the pinion and the support bearing.

    600 Shimz

Odd, I have the same heli and the pinion on mine is dead level with the bottom of the main gear. I'm not really understanding where you are talking about placing the shims but there should be a thick shim/thrust washer in-between the main gear and the auto gear, if that wasn't fitted the main...

ESC 10 BEC and ESC Wiring

Kinda hard to see what's going on but i think the lead with two wires is for programming the ESC.. The lead would be removed for normal flying and would be fitted only to connect to the Castle Link USB dongle. The loose lead with three wires appears to be the ESC throttle wire which will plug...

    700 My New T-Rex 700X Build

Looking good Phil, I just took delivery of mine but it will most likely be Friday before I can make a start on the build.

FBL Gyro Fine Tuning with Spirit Pro

These stability systems really are game changers, anything that makes helis more accessible is good as far as I'm concerned. The dilemma though is if/when you start reducing the strength of the stabilisation and eventually turning it off altogether. I guess that if all you want to do is 'scale'...

Nice! those trees don't give much margin for error.

ESC Flight batt and rx batt grounding...

If there is continuity then the ESC is not 'OPTO' so there is no concern. The two sides of the ESC are already connected to a common ground so you don't need to do anything. True OPTO was important back in the day of FM radio systems where the isolation prevented transmission of noise from the...

Pics would be great! having a partner who shares the interest in RC would be fantastic in most circumstances, though I have to admit that after 25 years of marriage it is nice sometimes to get out on my own and have a bit of 'me time' (that probably sounds terrible but long term married men...

    Spektrum DX and Throttle Hold

This is a glitch specific to the DX6i. If I recall correctly the 'fix' is to set throttle hold to +10% 'flat line throttle curve' rather than zero%. You might have to re-calibrate the throttle range after making the change.

FBL Gyro Fine Tuning with Spirit Pro

Phil, I'm guessing that 'coaxial' stability gives stronger self leveling, just like those toy coaxial helis you buy in shopping malls etc. This is great for hands off hovering, but I'd guess that it might be a liability when it comes to doing anything more advanced. If it's anything like a real...

ESC Flight batt and rx batt grounding...

I'm not sure if the Edge 120HV is 'OPTO'.. The previous 'ICE HV' range were but the spec for the Edge doesnt say. You can test it by checking for continuity between the pin on the black wire of the throttle lead and the black wire on the battery connection. If it's open circuit it's OPTO...

    500 Brushless motor bleeping

A few possibilities: ESC throttle wire connected to wrong output on Rx or FBL controller Throttle wire plug connected upside down ESC throttle range not calibrated Throttle reversed '3' is the usual problem but it's always worth ruling out the other points too

Welcome aboard Eric. Great that you can share your hobby with your wife, mine isnt interested in the slightest. I'm in the UK too but at the opposite end (Aberdeen). Helis can be quite a challenge coming from quads but they are very rewarding when it finally 'clicks'. So what RC fleet do you have?

ESC Flight batt and rx batt grounding...

What ESC are you using? Not all HV ESC's are OPTO (Optically isolated) It's a fair point that with a true OPTO ESC when powering the Rx from a seperate battery then the grounds of the main flight battery and that of the Rx battery won't be connected, so you could build up a voltage between the two.

    700 My New T-Rex 700X Build

At the risk of getting ahead of myself I'll make sure to capture the maiden of my 700X in glorious 4K HD. Might be neck and neck between Phil and I as to who gets a 700X in the air first... I usually throw em together pretty quick but we will see how the mood takes me on this one. I just...

    700 My New T-Rex 700X Build

Phil, How is the 700X coming along? The dealers here were having a Halloween sale and my remaining willpower crumbled, my 700X 'Super Combo' arrives on Tuesday:biggrin: I got it complete with the BeastX Plus, but that will be going on eBay. I've got a spare Vbar Silverline which I'll use on the...

    Batteries Lipo Batteries Explained

I usually charge at 2C but if i'm in a hurry i'll do 3C.. So that would be twice or three times the battery capacity in Amp-Hours. For example a 6S 5000mAh will take 10A for a 2C charge. I usually charge four or more in parallel so i can max out my charger at 40A. Discharging down to storage...

    Batteries Lipo Batteries Explained

I believe the reality is that any time fully charged increased the rate of degradation, so you should limit it as much as practical. But you also have to be realistic, batteries are there to use and the wont last forever no matter how careful you are, so dont become a slave to battery care. I...

ESC Esc Titan 40A programing instruction

Many of these ESC's are just re labels of either ZTW or Hobbywing products. The one in the photo looks like it could be a Hobbywing 'flyfun' 40A. If so this is the manual: http://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0109/9702/files/Users_Manual_Flyfun.pdf?1727 To confirm what you have got see if the beep...

    Servos Savox servo

I use both the SH-0255 and 0257 in planes and on the cyclics on my Chase 360 heli (0257 on the Chase), they are good servos. I run mine at 6.3V and they have all been faultless. I give them that extra bit of voltage to compensate for losses in the wiring due to resistance.
