Spektrum Dx9 Charging Issue

I am having an issue with my DX9. I have found it unresponsive too weekends in a row. The first time I thought I may have bumped the power switch and inadvertently drained the battery. I put it on charge and checked it the next day and it displayed 7.4 volts. That was last Sunday.


Today, it was dead when I tried to turn it on. Once I returned home, I plugged in the charger and the blue light came on. I checked the radio about a half hour later, the blue light was out, and the radio would not power on. I plugged in the charger again, the blue light came on, then went out after 2-3 minutes. I turned the radio on, it was reporting 7.2 volts, but after 20 seconds, it shut off. The radio should stay on even if the battery is at 7.2 volts. The LV alarm is set at the factory default setting of 6.4v. I am running the 2S Li-Ion Spektrum battery.

Anyone have any ideas?

Sounds like you have a flat battery. Try taking it out and charging it on an actual charger. I would just put it on a cycle and let it run about 5 times or so and see if it will actually take a charge. If not, then you know it's the battery. If it does discharge and charge about the capacity of the battery, then you know there is something wrong inside the tx.

I would just put it on a cycle and let it run about 5 times or so and see if it will actually take a charge. If not, then you know it's the battery. If it does discharge and charge about the capacity of the battery, then you know there is something wrong inside the tx.

That is the issue. I took the battery apart and found one of the cells dead and it had a discharge at the positive post. Time for a new one.

I use a bigger battery that I purchased on Ebay. It's been working well on my DX9. I never used the stock battery that it came with at all, which I flattened it and dispose of it.

Yes I did. Had to for the 450 videos lol.
