Setting Proper Gear Mesh

When you are building your helicopter, you take the time to install all of the servos correctly, make sure the shafts are perfect, but some over look at just how important it is to set the proper gear mesh.

If you set the mesh too loose, you run the risk of stripping the gears. If you set the mesh too tight, then not only will you put unneeded stress on the motor, battery and ESC, but also the risk of overheating and melting the main gear.

Some say that you can use a piece of paper to set your mesh, but this is WRONG! It will produce a gear mesh that is WAY too tight and will result in more damage.

In this video, I show you how to get the perfect gear mesh. You want the tightest mesh possible without dragging.

Thanks for posting this video , I wish I'd seen it before my first spool up. I tried using the main gear that came with my HK500GT and I set my gear mesh using the paper method(as shown in about 6 or 7 videos i watched on YouTube)... Double Whammy!! Now I have not only ordered a new set of Align gears but I also had to order a new gear case and one way bearing. Live and Learn, lol!!
