Something just got me thinking...are the umbrella gears simply "friction fit" on the torque tubes? Or are they fastened some how? Curious minds what to know.

They have a shape like a Philips screwdriver on the end of the tube. This slots into a + shaped hole on the umbrella gear.

A then press fitted into the inner race of the bearings in the housing. The other umbrella gear on the tail rotor shaft is usually pinned or fastened by a bolt or set screw.
