Thought this might be useful for anyone who perhaps hadn't thought of it yet(I saw the ball link pliers article in the Tools Forum).
The typical DFC swash balls are notoriously difficult, if not impossible, to get to with standard ball pliers. My solution was to cut down a pair with a Dremel as shown in the attached photo. Works like a charm!
