600 The New Arrival

Finally the KDS Agile 5.5 has arrived, been assembled and set up and the maiden will happen this weekend, it took a while to arrive because the wife and myself took a weeks holiday in the outback so I asked the seller to delay postage which he did, the frame arrived when expected but the tail section and blades got delayed in transit by good old Australia Post, very frustrating sitting there looking at half a helicopter until it rest arrived.

Well the big day arrived Birthday and the Agile maiden flight, a very cautious flight I might add. It went well, I was a bit intimidate on the first flight but a bit more adventurous on the second, however no video of the second.

Here's the video so it must have happened the couple of PIP blank out were to remove a bit of complimentary bad language.

That was a nice safe maiden Keith, well done. Bet you're looking forward to getting it out for a few more flights.

Thanks Guys, it will be back in the air next week, it's such a gentle beast to fly I know I'll soon get used to it.

Week two only one flight today due to weather, what an awesome heli to fly, getting a bit more confident we will see what week three brings.

There was video today but about as mundane as last weeks.

I'm glad that I've started upgrading my fleet, some of the ones I'm still flying are over 8 years old, so I was kind of stuck in a rut.

That is awesome that you are enjoying this new helicopter! Nothing like getting something new and loving flying it. Keep the updates coming.

Very nice flight Admiral!
I'll be glad when ALL of my maidens' are that smooth.
Looks like a perfect setup to me.
Good luck on the next few weeks.

Thanks Robert, Well I was so impressed with the KDS Agile when I saw an unfinished KDS Chase 360 up for sale at a very good price I bought it stripped the electrics out of the HK450 Pro and finished off the Chase.
The Chase went to the flying field on the weekend for testing and maiden but had an issue with the tail bobbing up & down rapidly so was taken home for some tuning of the AR7200BX, yesterday while test flying n the backyard got to perform a nice steady hover for about 30~40 seconds next thing I lost all tail authority and crashed causing major damage.

Seems that while I went through the part built helicopter and locktited every thing I could see I missed the grub screw on the belt end of the tail rotor shaft which came out with devastating results, damage appear to be two frame sides, one blade, one tail blade, a set of servo gears and still have not checked the feathering or main shafts which are probably bent.

On the way to the flying field

Very sweet collection of birds you have their Admiral. I bet you can't wait for the parts to come in so you can get that bird in the air. Good luck and looking forward to a video of the flight :)

Looks like photobucket is getting you too Keith. Might want to upload those images here to the site so this doesn't happen again lol.
