Sorting Screws When Building You Helicopter

Hey guys. This little tip can work for not only helicopters, but for planes, trucks and cars too. I used to just pour all of the screw out on my work bench, in piles according to size and type.

This proved to be a bad idea, because they would get mixed up, knocked off the bench, or scattered all over the table.

My husband actually came up with a cool idea, that keeps them all sorted by size and type...and also cleans them at the same time.

All you need are a couple of cheap ice cube trays...available at any dollar store. Just put the screws into the compartments in the tray, and then pour a little alcohol ( I use denatured) into the compartments with the screws. The machine oil will soak off of them as you build and everything stays neat and organized.

As you need them, you just take them out with tweezers or a magnetized screwdriver..wipe them dry and install them. I also like to label the compartments with sticky notes so I can identify the size I need at a glance.

I'm darn sure not going to use my good drinkin' alcohol hahahaha.

Great tip Geena! I still just toss the screws out on the table, but I have a tablecloth that is highly textured on my workbench that keeps things from rolling around. But getting that grease and oil off of them is a fantastic idea to make sure they hold when you put thread locker on them!

Thank you, Tony. This method works for me, and I wanted to pass it on. :) I don`t partake in the drinking alcohol myself. But by all means, don`t waste it on RC screws...hahahaha.
