Setups Small FPV Cam and Transmitter

So as much research I have done over the past year I am still reaching to the masses for an idea.
I want to plop a small but decent FPV camera and transmitter to go on my little X250 I just built.
Now in most cases I could just about put anything on a normal 250 but my X250
does not have a load of real estate for the norm.
Now once I finally decide on what I want to do for landing gear on her
I plan on moving the battery from top to the bottom therefore opening up the entire
top for an FPV setup.
Just as a reminder here is the pic of the X250.
Fire away :)

Kind of like that yes but that one is a bit pricy I feel? It's cool to have it all in one like that I just wonder how well it performs.
Suppose I could search for reviews on it

That is a little guy. :)
I see all kinds of Pico cams out there had any experience with them?

Ahh nice catch then Stam.
I believe for the price and the quad I am going to put
it on I may give the one from DIY a shot.
Checked out a review from RC Models and he gave it a decent blessing.

Heck if it turns out to be a decent little solution for the type of flying
I do I may grab another one even if it is just for the transmitter itself.

Question in light of cameras.
The cam I currently have works ok. Not the one in this post
In normal light conditions I get good video pretty much all of the time.
However when I turn into "brighter" light I kind of get this state to where
it almost looks like it is trying to recover from the brightness but never does.
I assume it is the camera quality more so than anything.
Typically what camera/Stats should I be looking for to help
eliminate this (I will call it) black out or maybe wash out.
I can see but it's like of like a negative picture if you know what I mean?
The video signal is fine btw just what I get from the camera is not

I had great luck with the fatshark camera and others are loving that Sony board camera. But it sounds lime your auto white balance is a little off on the camera you have now.

I know what it's doing. It's closing the iris so that it doesn't bleach out the screen. Pretty sure it's brightness control. I'm still sick and working on about 3.5 hours of sleep so my brain is not working.

Well I did get the camera outside for a bit today and I really was not impressed.
The image was grainy and the white balance just wouldn't adjust well.
It was flyable but not nearly what I expected after the crisp picture inside.
There was a storm running through and the clouds and the sun kept it busy
with adjustments so maybe on a nice sunny or nice cloudy day it might be better.
As for the range of the transmitter unfortunately the wind was more than I wanted to deal with
so I kept it short and sweet.
In the distance I did travel I got good signal (no static or lines) just too bad the
video was not that great.
It's a good little camera for just starting out but as I grow more into FPV
I am going to better the camera for sure.
The cheapy I have on my 300 build produces a much better picture.
But for now I will use it to fly the little X250 in and around the house and for messing around
to get used to flying FPV.
The FOV however was pretty decent at 127 degrees so I had no complaints there.
Really now much room to add a recording camera on this little guy but I can already tell
I am going to have fun with this one...she is pretty quick :)

Well...
I totalled the X250 this past weekend...
I was flying LOS and got just a bit too crazy and SMACK....hit a tree.
I have her back together (thanks God for plastic standoffs) however
in the process I trashed the 200mw FPV transmitter...I mean trashed.
I think it took the brunt of the blow...antenna seems fine as well as the rest.
So back to looking for another transmitter....
That brings me to this question.
I keep seeing several transmitters that are 25mw....25?
I'm used to the 200 and 600 types but 25?
Like this one for example: http://www.immersionrc.com/fpv-products/25mw-5-8ghz-av-tx/
I mean how far can you really go with 25mw?
Or am I confused on this "power thing"?

The idea of 25mw is I believe in the UK and some othere areas this is the highest power you can legally transmit without a licence.
It is too low for flying in bush and tree areas at any reasonable distance.
If you can legally use more power, do so.
As far as I am concerned 200mw is absolute minimum for proximity FPV.
I am currently using a Fatshark 250mw and suffer many small glitches in amongst trees and scrub.

Stambo is exactly right, and the same FCC laws are here. Anything over 25mw requires a HAM Radio license. But as you can see, not many people obey those laws.
