Servos Servo size

A standard servo is standard size, but when they say "mini", are there different sizes of mini servo? Looking for mini servos that measure around 42mm between mounting holes. But some servos listed as mini are way smaller then that.,. What gives??

There aren't any real standards when it comes to sizes... they are just general in nature and it's up to the user to ensure the one they've selected will actually fit in the areas provided on the model

While I've seen many give measurements for the holes... usually they just list the height, width and depth

As Rdsok says there are no standard sizes, each manufacturer appears to have a size range and if a servo fits within that range that is how it is categorised. Not all manufacturers use the same ranges so it gets very confusing. In the attached HiTec spec sheet you can see the different categories and if you check out the individual servos within a categories the sizes vary greatly.
