Finally my wire harness, for my charger, arrived :). The other one's went up in smoke. I got my self a grill and made a portable charging station. :warning:No more in house charging for me. He's my charger, ammo can W/ lipo bag in it. I'll use my solar charger where there's no outlet. This should work fine. At lease my house, family and pets are safe :hugging:

100% fireproof so if a fire does break out, you can just close the lid! Nice setup, just too bad on the situation that led up to it.

Just say, I learned from my mistake not to do it again or prevent it from happening again :).

Gonna follow your lead! I have a steel lock box that is 3/16" thick and shuts tight I am not using. It is big and kind of over kill, but it would be a good place to store batteries too?

NO-NO-NO, You don't want tight. I think your asking for an explosion. I have holes in my ammo can for this purpose. I'm not sure but I hope other will have some input on this important discussion

D.O.G. is correct... you certainly want it to be able to vent in the event that something does happen otherwise you are just creating a bomb. The thick walled steel is a decent idea as long as you still allow it to vent. I would mention that you want the inside insulated with something so nothing can short against the inner walls.

Man, I never thought of using an old grill for a charging station!
It works wonderful but it gets to dam hot in the summertime in FLA. So I found a different place to charge and store my stuff. Mother-in-law house bathroom. batch_IMG_1463.JPG Works great because I have a bathroom, kitchen, AC, fold out couch bed and of course cable TV :).

How will it blow up? Asking because I don't know. I have seen battery fires on video.

I store all my batteries in smaller safe bags, then two safe bags go inside a larger safe bag.

The lid closes like a shoe box, so I am sure I could make some spacers so it would vent. Or cut some holes and put some louvers on it.

Lipo bags works to contain but not stop the fire.

I know. Point of the bag is they would insulated in the bags when storing them. I'll just get them out and charge them out of the metal box. Being the lid is how it is, I think it will be okay for storage, especially if I vent it better.

I can charge them in my garage so they might smoke up, but it won't get in the house.

At the end it doesn't matter where your charging station is, just beware & cautious what can happen during charging/discharging of batteries. All about being safe :).

Hey Loopy. That's a good question  I still like using my ammo can but a spare refrigerator probably will work as long you leave the door ajar.

I was actually thinking of leaving the fridge running. Cool batts are safe batts. I just ordered the soft container with small containers for individual batteries. Destroyed two old batts that were getting very puffy. Just like burning up $$bills.:waa:
