Quad Frames and Build Design

Question.
During my own builld I noticed that there are several designs out there
for Quads in general.
The one that keeps catching my eye is one where the Arms are on top
instead of below.
Is there a specific reason other than looks?
Kind of like this...

Im getting ready to build my first quad a RCX H250CF-3K from MyRcMart. Parts not here yet. I wonder if I can swap the top plate for the two bottom plates? I like the looks of the arms up top. Maybe it would be more stable??? Dont know Im new at quads.

It looks like you could probably just build it upside down.
Looks like then it would accommodate larger props.
I had thoughts of doing that with my ZMR 250, I may still do it.

I could see this as a better option for center of gravity.
Most of the weight is either equal to the arms c/l or
below it. Then I would think it would keep it from being too
top heavy if there is such a thing with quads :)

that's the emax 250 frame in the picture, and who ever that dummy is needs educating, he has left off the bottom plate, that frame has the possibility to fold under stress like that, all that's holding the arms on is 2 bolts through a 1.5mm plate, normally they are through the plate then have a 6mm ish threaded spacer that you tighten then another plate then the nyloc nut holds the sandwich tight, thus giving a box type rigidity,

may look cool but taken so much designed strength from the frame, a small knock and it will snap the arms off,

if you want a under slung go for something like this,

The tarot frame has no top to it, but it has a metal brace across it front and back.
If that guys wants to sling his emax frame underneath, this would be a good fix.

I know that this is going to be one of the most controversial subjects known to Quad builders
but I am going to ask. :)
We all know Carbon fiber is strong however we all know it will break as well.
I have seen several materials listed in use with Quad builds right down to wood itself.
Heck I have seen Styrofoam being used.
Obviously the material you select to use is your own choice and
as the quad pilot becomes a more experienced flyer his/her options for future
builds my not necessarily be gauged on his/her frame material.
I know weight is a major factor as well.
So what are other "dependable" yet light materials do you guys/gals consider
when putting together a design...and why.

I've seen them made from all sorts.
Carbon
Glass Fibre
PVC tubing
Wood
Perspex

My first DIY quads were made from wood. Easy to design, build, repair.

haha, I remember those. Crash, head to the hardware store lmao. No ordering needed. Just drill bits.
