General DX6i and setting up with a FY-31ap

Can a Spektrum DX6i be set up to use a FY-31AP?
The models that I fly are a 4 channel and a 5 channel so there is a open channel to use.
Or am I going to have to buy another transmitter?

First off welcome to RCH. We can help you. Second this should be asked in the (Im guessing) radio section.

But to answer it as long as the model is Specktrum compatible it will work. You will need to program the radio for the model. If the radio can not bind to it then no but you may be able to change the rx in the model to a Specktrum rx. If that can be done you back to programming the radio.
