Hey Ivan, thank you for the frame, it was just what I needed to get on the right track. It worked perfect for the mock up. Got the kit, amazing how they can pack it into such a small box.

Just a progress report. Gave in and ordered the right kit rather than try to adapt something that may well end in heart break, The kit is "Out for Delivery" and the order includes a FBL. A couple shots of the Huey and the mock-up frame (Thanks Ivan!)

    General Don't you hate when....

It's been too windy to fly so you haven't charged any batteries, only to wake up and it's dead calm.

Thanks Tony, I'll try that. I'm hesitant to mix paints at this point and will finish using the same brand. Orange peel would really ruin my day. Woulda, coulda, shoulda. Having both gravity and siphon airbrushes and an automotive touch up gun....... Hey Ivan, thanks, hows the Coast Guard...

Got some color on her. I'm not happy with this brand of paint, had better results with a less expensive brand. No matter how long the cans were shaken, the black would spit and the red dried flat. At least the clear went on good. Now to let this round cure for a week and finish up the...

    General Heli carry case

That is what I ended up with from a local crafts store. I have a sheet of thin Al I hope to make a mounting plate with, it's pretty soft so it should work OK. I have a shoulder strap from an old gym bag.

    250 Bad vibes

The XNova is a sweet motor! So, what were they saying...never mind I don't want to know lol. I was pleasantly surprised too. I figured it would be about the same or a bit warmer. Here's what I think, the stock motor was spinning the shaft in the bearings, adding heat and causing the motor to...

    250 Bad vibes

Yes, fine motors! There's a noticeable difference in performance. Another plus, after a four minute flight the old motor pulled the battery down to 3.8v per cell, and the new one, same 4 minutes has the battery reading 3.86v per cell. Plenty left in the tank. I think I'll set the timer for...

    250 Bad vibes

So after another 10 or so flights the vibration came back. I didn't even tear apart the motor, just removed it and made clearance for the Scorpion. It's just a bit wider than the stock motor so I cut the frame above the motor mounts so it wouldn't touch. After two test flights, I wonder why...

    Scale What went wrong

I don't think the AR7200BX will lose it's settings from losing the bind to the Tx. That said, going thru it again to confirm the settings is never a bad idea. This is much easier to do out of the shell, getting to the button can be difficult, but if there's room enough why not? Glad damage...

Scale Whether or not to weather, that is the question

Thanks everybody for your input. I have some time before I'm ready to make a decision, good thing as I'm still not sure how I'll finish it, weathering wise. Leaning towards minimal. With a set of scale blades, that would be a no brainer, those will get changed for flying anyways.

Scale Whether or not to weather, that is the question

I'm working on a scale build and I'm stuck. For all of the static display military models, I've always weathered them. It adds so much to the build. But this is a different kettle of fish I think. I'm basically doing a flying fire truck. Every photo I can find of the subject looks like it...
