General Please Help. Trex 150 and 250

Well fair enough but it wont be easy. The Align 3GX based FBL systems though now obsolete and out of production can still work well enough, but they are quite difficult to set up. Even some experienced flyers struggle with them. It's a very hard challenge to have to learn to fly a CP heli AND...

General Unable to Fly - First RC Plane

Though it's pretty obvious if you get motor rotation wrong, because the plane will try to fly backward!

    600 The Goblin is done

Glad it worked for you Neil. I think these 'wedges' are installed on all current spektrum Tx's and possibly other brands too. They limit the travel of the throttle stick which i think is intended to make for a faster acting throttle for fixed wing flying. Downside is for helis it can make...

General Please Help. Trex 150 and 250

1Swoopdog, If this is your first ventures into RC flying the any collective pitch heli is going to be very difficult. You would really be better off with a stable fixed pitch heli to learn the basics on, something like the Blade 200SRX would be ideal to get you in the air. Trying to learn on a...

Prop Extreme Flight Edge 540T 48"

Looking good.. What motor did you go for in the end? I also have 3 rates on my 3D planes, low for precision aerobatics, medium for 3D and a special rate that takes elevator throw to as much as mechanically possible, which i use for knife edge spins and tumbling maneuvers like Lomcovacs etc.

General Unable to Fly - First RC Plane

PS... There are various online calculators available for selecting motors and props etc however for simplicity i usually use a quick excel calculator that i made myself. I've found to be good enough in most cases. You just input your data in the yellow boxes. There are three different versions...

General Unable to Fly - First RC Plane

The thing that jumps out is that your prop is too small for the motor on 3s. For that setup you should be running something like a 10x6 prop... So with the smaller prop you would be way down on thrust. Also double check that the prop is not on backward, if you put the prop on backward the plane...

FBL Gyro If you have a Spirit gyro you must read this

I had Goblin 630 out for a couple of flights today. The reduced cyclic ring works perfectly. Normal flight is unaffected but the flip to upright during rescue is now much less violent and no blowing out of the tail during the flip.

    General DX7 and Apprentice S 15e

Which version of the DX7 do you have? If it's the new one then the switches are assignable and so you can set any switch you want to the gear channel. It's all in the channel assignment menus (read the manual)

    700 Align Trex 800 Motor.

The heli is intended for 6s 5000 -5500mAh batteries... so yours are way oversize. I'm amazed you can even fit them in?

    700 Align Trex 800 Motor.

The newer Trex 800's come with the BL850MX 490Kv motor which is a lot bigger and more powerful, so that would be the obvious choice (or other brand motors of similar size and Kv to the BL850MX) You seem to be carrying some vastly oversize batteries there, so probably the biggest issue is being...

FBL Gyro If you have a Spirit gyro you must read this

You probably have a bit less than 10 deg right now, and to be honest if you arent noticing any sluggishness on cyclic then that's perfectly ok.

FBL Gyro If you have a Spirit gyro you must read this

I'm no expert on it Neil, normally it's not something you need to worry about ... So with that said, what I did was: Connect up the heli to the Spirit software and open up the 'Limits' tab where the cyclic ring slider is. Put the blades aligned along the heli nose to tail, put collective...

    1st devastating crash

Sorry to hear about your crash. Quads are usually pretty robust and take a crash well, but hitting a tree flat out will never end well! Best fly where there aren't any trees within range because they are like RC model magnets, but i guess you know that now.

FBL Gyro If you have a Spirit gyro you must read this

So i've just checked my Spirit setup. Cyclic Ring was set to 230 which was the max available without binding, as per original instructions. When I checked aileron and elevator cyclic i was getting a whopping 15 degrees pitch (with collective at mid stick). I reduced cyclic ring down to 175...

FBL Gyro If you have a Spirit gyro you must read this

Most FBL controllers have cyclic ring function . Mikado Vstabi software has it but i think it's only available for adjustment with the Pro upgrade, without Pro it might be stuck at default of 85? See attached screenshot of my Vstabi. I've had to reduce it in Vstabi before on my Trex 600 to avoid...

FBL Gyro If you have a Spirit gyro you must read this

Good call posting it Neil. Although i never experienced blade strike the flip to the upright position when activating rescue from inverted was incredibly violent and cause the tail to blow out and the heli to end up pointing in unpredictable directions. I just thought that 'that's the way the...

    450 Align 450SE V2 Blade tracking help

+1.. if you get the mechanical setup right tracking really shouldn't be a problem. Check the length of the pitch control link rods with a vernier caliper and get them exactly the same length and you should be pretty much spot on, just use the pitch gauge to double check. - - - Updated - - -...

    Micro TREX 150 issues

I have a 150 with a bad MRS too, it seems like a very common problem. The price of those MRS boards is ridiculous. To be honest the helis been nothing but trouble since day one. It spent more time on the repair bench than it ever did flying. It was a complete money pit, it cost me far more to...

700 New to me Trex 700L Dominator

That's great news, so it sounds like the bearings were faulty and jamming under load? You are right, the TT and tail boom are the same diameter on the 600 and 700, and the bearings are the same too. I use the 700 boom and TT on my slightly stretched 600 pro. The gears themselves are different...
