    700 My New T-Rex 700X Build

Rewinding can change the Kv of a motor and it can make the motor more powerful, more efficient and cooler running. The idea is that by careful hand winding with a single thick wire you get more copper and so less electrical resistance than a sweatshop factory/machine wound motor that usually use...

Welcome Pixel Pusher. You have a good collection there!. To turn good to great you need a few helis and maybe another plane or two:chuckles:

    700 My New T-Rex 700X Build

You sound like a man after my own heart Phil. Once I have everything is working perfectly I get bored and have to find stuff to tweak and upgrade. My new project related to the 700X is to rewind the already stupidly powerful Align BL850MX motor. When I got my spare airframe it came with another...

ESC HW 100A ESC v3 setting

Glad it was of help, you can also use a Y lead in you want to wire up the fan and keep a programming connection free.

ESC HW 100A ESC v3 setting

As far as mounting and getting to the programming port: You can add a standard servo extension lead to the port if the ESC is hard to access.

    EDF Dx8 gen 2

Just set a mix between elevator and the channel that conducts thrust vectoring. You can choose if you have the mix on all the time or activated by a switch. Select the switch you want to use, and that should be it.

    A couple more flights

Good flying conditions here over the weekend, hardly a breath of wind and not too cold. the only issue at this time of year this far north is that light is never very good. I got eleven flights in with no problems to report. here's a flight of the Trex 700X. This is about 30 flights since new on...

General Wives and helis dont mix

That ESC is well 'toasted' for sure. It would be interesting to open it up and see what components are fried (the FETS I'd guess). I did the same thing with a YEP 120A which I accidentally spooled up while calibrating. In my panic grabbed the head to stop the rotors. I stopped it ok but the ESC...

    General Head Speeds

The castle gov is not as bad as some make out, it's maybe not as smooth as the hobbywing but it works ok providing you keep the gov gain value low. Possibly for very hard 3D flyers it has issues but for the type of sports aerobatics I fly the castle gov has worked fine, i still use that setup on...

    General Head Speeds

Yes, you can just have different throttle curves in you different flight modes. But using the governor is much better because it maintains much more consistent headspeed. You can either use the governor built into the ESC or the Brain2 governor, the ESC option is a little simpler because you...

    Batteries Lipo Batteries Explained

Phil, The approach to battery care that's served me well for years is: Balance charge on a quality charger (I charge at 2C rate usually) Minimise time that the batteries spend fully charged, where practical only charge immediately before use. Keep batteries in a cool place, avoid leaving in...

    700 My New T-Rex 700X Build

Your welcome anytime. The field is only a few miles from Aberdeen airport, though i dont think there are any direct flights to/from Switzerland. Itt might work out expensive if you did it every weekend...

    700 My New T-Rex 700X Build

Phil, You touched on the 'club politics' issues that are one of the reasons i just cant be bothered with clubs. Strange thing i've found is that the guys who make most noise on a political level are usually the ones who fly least, or not at all, so the ridiculous rules they dream up dont affect...

    700 My New T-Rex 700X Build

Phil, Some clubs do seem to like to banish heli flyers away to the far flung corner of the field! The clubs around here dont seem too bad, they mainly seem happy to let the heli and fixed wing flyers co-exist, not that I fly at club fields very often.

The Chinese, Helping Or Hurting The Hobby???

Yeah, sorry, i just feel like I keep banging on about the same thing!

The Chinese, Helping Or Hurting The Hobby???

I disagree. The vast majority of RC hobby equipment is 'out of' China, Taiwan or nearby far eastern countries. As stated above, Scorpion are based there and manufacture there, Spektrum, Futaba and most other radios are made there, 3DHS/Extreme flight and most other top of the range ARFs are made...

Sounds good and should be popular. I count myself as a beginner in the quad side of the hobby.

General Wives and helis dont mix

Time for a group hug: Seriously though, one of the best things about the hobby is the guys who are willing to help others out. I've benefitted from this on loads of occasions so it's good to pass it on when the opportunity comes around.

General Wives and helis dont mix

I got lucky and managed to find Neil a virtually brand new Goblin 630 Comp airframe for sale in one of the UK based forums for a decent price, the guy even had an YGE 120HV ESC too so hopefully Neil's sorted with all the bits he needs, plus half a heli for spares:biggrin1:
