250 Omphobby M2 - Direct Drive Micro Helis

The awesome OMPHObby M2 micro has been around a year but OMP have just relesed two new upgraded versions. The new models ate the M2-2020/V2 and the M2-Explore. The helis are very similar, main difference is the Explore has plastic grips swash and servo bodies, the 'V2' has all alloy parts. Some...

General Spirit Pro Fbl + Spektrum Dx9 Black

Setting up a FBL can be a steep learning curve! Same goes for any FBL, the jargon alone can be daunting. I’ve setup a lot of Spirits so if any specific questions just ask. Private message is ok if you prefer.

General Spirit Pro Fbl + Spektrum Dx9 Black

Yes, I guess it is confusing when you put it that way. The thing with a FBL that you have to consider is that there are 'input channels', and 'output channels'. The two are not the same and the channel numbers dont match up. They never be a direct Tx channel to servo channel relationship because...

It might be that your Tx software is still set to mode 2. Check in the Tx software that it's set to mode 1 (this is quite separate to the mechanical changes to put throttle on the right) Page 40 of the manual: https://www.horizonhobby.com/pdf/SPMR9900-Manual_EN.pdf All channel assignments are...

General Set Zero At Mid Stick, Why?

^^^ 110% agreed on this. In fact using 'idle up' throttle curves so you cant cut the throttle with the collective stick, so you are FORCED to use throttle hold every time is one of the advantages of the use of 'Idle-Up'. It gives you no choice but to get into the 'throttle hold habit' and out...

General Set Zero At Mid Stick, Why?

Alex, No, there is more to it than inverted. It's important that the FBL controller 'knows' where zero collective pitch is. The FBL is designed on the basis that 'centre' on the signal output of the collective channel gives zero pitch, this is 'hard wired' into the programming and cant be...

Servos Upgrading To Mks Hbl665/669 Servos

If you are using the Axon then the setup needs to be done in the Axon. It would simplify the setup considerably and also improve the flying characteristics if you installed the flybarless head conversion. Compared to a 'full' flybarless setup there is zero advantage in having both a flybar and...

Servos Upgrading To Mks Hbl665/669 Servos

I thought that you said in another thread that you were using an Axon flybarless controller? If you are not using the Axon then you can level the arms with sub-trim in the transmitter, but if you are using the Axon it has to be done in the Axon programming, all transmitter trims must be kept at...

The curve you mention would be classed as a 'Normal mode' throttle curve, because it fully closes the throttle when you pull the stick back. It will work fine though you must remember never to pull the stick fully back when in flight otherwise you will cut the motor. I'm in Aberdeen in the UK.

'Idle up' is a throttle curve that is close to a flat line, specifically it does not start from zero. To start and stop the motor you just use the throttle hold switch. This prevents crashes caused by pulling back the collective stick and accidentally causing the motor to stop. The tilted skids...

Servos Upgrading To Mks Hbl665/669 Servos

It depends. If this is on your heli using a flybarless controller (FBL) then the servos are levelled as part of the FBL setup process. You get to the part of the FBL setup process that allows you to adjust servo arm positions, you first find the arm spline position closest to centre then use the...

yes, or use 'idle up' throttle (see my reply on the other thread). What ESC are you using?

General Set Zero At Mid Stick, Why?

During setup of the FBL it's important to setup with zero at mid stick. However once setup you can use pitch curves to give you anything you want. Many people who fly 'scale' have a pitch curve that gives a few degrees positive at centre stick so the heli hovers at that position. Such a curve...

    General Pitch Variation At Neutral

I'd not expect one link turn should not make 1 degree difference, usually it's about half a degree? .When checking the pitch you need to have the FBL in setup mode (the part of setup where you adjust the arms to level). If you try to adjust the pitch when the FBL is in normal operating mode you...

Congratulations, a lot of people dont make it as far as two hovers with the heli intact, so you did good. 5 minutes flying is a reasonable time for the average electric heli, so not really any surprise that you took over half the capacity from the pack. You can probably increase flying time to...

    Current Limiter

PS.. One important consideration is that if connecting two power-supplies in series you have to 'float the ground' on the second power supply. If you dont know what this means then probably the safest thing is not to do it yourself because playing with HV electrics is dangerous. In a nutshell...

    Current Limiter

Neither. The charger will only take what it needs, up to a limit of 30A after which it takes no more. The only thing you must check is the voltage supply is within the range of the charger, and in this case you are fine because the X6 takes up to 32V. As long as voltage is within limits you...

    600 Bank Switching

Yes, the jump is no problem. In fact if you use 'idle up' throttle curves the motor keeps running full speed even when the collective stick is fully back. this is needed for flying inverted. You just start and stop using the 'throttle hold' switch and you let the 'soft start' do it's job...
