non balance charger isnt a BAD thing. Its just the matter of balancing them once a month or so .. as a good practiec. But a non balance charger wont pick up any cell voltage. It only picks up the total off the red and black leads and tried to bring the battery to the max voltage setting

Am using sigma eq mini 12 v or ac upto 4s charger, its good enough for me as a beginner, and it did not break the bank.

I would NOT run the batteries all the way down until the alarm is going off. It's not good for them. 80% of the packs mah is pretty much the standard. And just an FYI, I balance mine every time I charge.

Gonna use approximate 3.5 v per cell as a trigger for the alarm, should give me best of both worlds and see what time in the air that gives me, then set my timer just under that,

I would go 3.8 or 3.9 volts per cell. I have my lvc set at 3.8 volts per cell and when it kicks in I am at about 78% depleted. Remember 3.7 volts is the lowest you should go if you want to get any kind of life span.

thank Matthias, i was working it out at 80% of 4.2v which is Approx 0.84v use therefore 3.36v per cell thats why i came up with the 3.5v alarm point.

Tell me if i got my maths wrong or i have mis understood how this works.

You gotta love translation, told hobbyking customer service, my battery voltage came back and was able to charge it again, the reply I got, please send through photos of the battery voltage per cell so we can see fault. And this was supposed to be from someone named John, lol

This is standard HK wasting your time.
First they ask you to measure the cells.
Then they ask you to take a picture
Then they ask you to ship back to them at your expense so they can test it.

I think they must thing their customers are stupid and just go through the motions to make it appear like they are doing something. I buy Nano-Tech batteries nothing else from HK. If I get a bad battery I know just to write it off. So far I have only had 1 bad battery out of about 40 batteries

Yeah theres no way i would have sent a battery back, would have cost as much as the battery, but would they have to be returned to the local warehouse or international warehouse, as cost would be a masive difference.

With my batteries I know that if I fly 4.5 to 5 minutes my lvc won't kick on. That is my normal flight time. I usually replace about 1200 mah. In case I forget the timer I have the lvc as my back up.

Check each cell with a multimeter. You can put the charger in 1S mode and charge an individual cell. I have done this to a battery that refused to balance and now I have no problems balancing it. If you search the battery section I mention how to do this.

My problem was got caught up in the moment, had the timer set for 5 mins and got to +4 mins so nine in total ish, lol you can say I learnt from that mistake got about five mins last night and had 3.8 v left in the cells.

Yeah, there is no reason to charge each cell now that they are back to normal. Just fly the crap out of it and it should be fine. Glad it's working though because HK's returns SUCK!!!!!!!!!
