Batteries Lipo bags

I've been using a metal cash box up to now, but I've got so many (and big) packs that they all don't fit any more. I'm considering getting those lipo bags, but I'm having my doubts about those things - can they REALLY contain a lipo fire?

And I think I'm gonna stick with the cash box system :D

It's a good though, and I know better safe than sorry but,

what's the likelyhood of a bat catching fire while being charged at 1c, these thing have come a long way recently, and with the newer chargers, mine don't even get warm.

I have never experienced any faults or errors while charging - but I have a ton of respect for these batteries, they are dangerous! As far as I know, fires usually happen due to user error.

I have full respect for these batts aswell, while charging I am constantly monitoring what's going on but want to be covered from all sides as I charge them in my living room.

Yeah did not think anyone would want to do that, even if just for a demo, tad dangerous. Think I like the skin on my hands the way it is.

I have the cash box for storing in the house and i use the bags for travelling on airplanes. When flying you must take the lipos on as hand luggage, so the lipo bags are perfect.

Nope, I don't use bags. I have two of them, and have never used them. I just don't see vinyl being good at holding back a fire. Ammo box's, still I don't see this as good. You should never have a battery on something that conducts electricity and could short them out. Ammo box lined with rubber or even cardboard, yes, this is perfect.

True... Forgot to mention that

Truck bed liner to line the ammo box and then store batteries in it

Fly safe!! :) have fun!

That is perfect. They sell that at walmart in either a spray or roll in and it would be permanent. That is a great idea and MUCH better than flammable cardboard hahaha.

I dont think I would drill holes. If you have a fire inside the box the holes will just allow the fire to breath. Those ammo cans are air tight. My 50 BMG cans would hold a few cells, but I would think you would end up using a lot of cans for bigger batteries.

I am using a fire safe lock box right now to store my lipos it is lockable so it is not going to come open by accident.... bought it after i noticed my 6s pack had started to puff a lil...

I charge mine on the kitchen table, but i'm only 5 ft away from them if anything goes wrong, and they are next to the window if i need to throw the whole lot out of it in an emergency :D

That's where I am at the moment, I believe the problems that people are now worried so much about had a lot to do with chargers and people not balancing the lipos, correct me if I am off the mark.

well yes.. and no.. .it all depends on the lipo battery.. the torture its been through through too fast charge and discharging. Pufing, crashing and what not.

these batteries are not "predictable" for calling them safe. So every one just has to be careful is all :)

I do but i still keep an eye on it while it is charging... I pinky charge in the bags so in case the do poof and catch fire it will buy you some time to get it outside....
