This is the one most people are going for now. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewitem.asp?idproduct=21823 Westy has this coming. Its a copy of the Power Lab 8, which is considered the ultimate in chargers. I'm waiting for his review on it as i'm needing a new charger since my Voltz one packed in on me during the first charge of my new 6S batteries. All 4 were over charged and damaged. Have emailed Voltz a number of times now with no reply :( But the company oi bought it from did reply immediatly and offered a replacement. So shame on you Voltz, and good on you Midlands Helicopters.

That Turnigy 4x6S charger really looks like a quality unit...especially for the price. The reviews on Youtube talk highly about the charger. I'd really like to have a charger like this because I'm going to have quite a few more batteries around here, this year. Last year, I bought this charger...

I got it from my LHS for $120US. It works great...it's easy to use...and only gets a slight bit warm when charging my 6S lipos. Always stays nice and cool or normal temperature when charging my 4S and lower. Anyway...my wife plans on flying with me this year and I just thought that having a charger that could charge multiples at once would be handy.

I Just got a Turnigy Mega 400 Lipo (20 Amp) and a 600W charger ....

I have done about 8 hours of work with it ... and had to pull it apart tonight due to a dry bush in one of the internal temp reduction fans. It really started squealing .... So lithium lube in there and al good .... but pretty average for the time I have had it ... about 2 weeks.

Ok...so from what little I do understand...it's still a single battery charger, but the Fatboy 8 can charge batteries faster and still just as safe. Is that right?

The fatboy can charge up to 1300w. To put this into perspective, most cheap chargers can only charge at 50w/6s. This one is 1300w/8s max. Your going to need a good power supply, or keep your car running when it's charging at full capacity, but it will charge pretty quickly compared to the cheaper ones. However, make sure to read the reviews. I have been looking though some of the reviews on HK, and MOST of them have crappy reviews, but HK is changing the crown rating to 4 crowns even though people are saying that something is junk or a waste of money. HK is changing the ratings, and the only way you can get the correct idea of what the part is really like, is to read it and NOT rely on the crown rating.

I have a parrallel board for mine .... and run 2 to 6 batteries at a time. Although I only have 2 same same batteries left.

The other issue with my PSU (17V 600watt) it will only develop enough juice to run constant at 16 amps...... but I am happy with that .... it certainly is a heap faster than the old 150W one I had! took ages and ages to charge up.

I was just looking over the specs for my Thunder Power charger and I didn't see anything that referred to "watts." Maybe I'll just stick with my charger for the time being. It's simple to use and it works. Yes, it takes nearly an hour to charge my 6S lipo's most of the time, but it works. I just haven't gotten a grasp on understanding watts, amps, volts, and such (gosh I really wish I had paid more attention in high school, lol).

If you can only charge your 6s at 2.2a, then it's a 55w charger. Taking an hour, that's what is sounds like.

well, my 6S lipos are 3000mAh and I charge them at 3amps for about an hour in charge time. My 3S 2200mAh, I charge them at 2.2amps..and that takes 30 minutes at most...usually about 23-25 minutes.

with a 1000W charger you could parallel charge 15 of your 6S 3000mah batteries in the same time frame as you do one at the moment. Or if you wanted to charge them at 2C, so 6A, you could charge 7 batteries in 30mins :D Big difference

Right, but if you look on your charger, it should only be showing about 2.2a when charging no matter what your setting is that you put in. I always put 5a on my 6s packs, and 2.1-2.2 was the highest it would reach because of the limits of the charger.

When I set my charger for 3.0 to charge the 3000mAh 6S, it goes to 3.0 and occasionally it will drop to 2.9. Then as the battery nears "full charge", the amps drop slowly to "top off" the battery. Same is similar with my 2200mAh 3S...set it for 2.2amps and it goes to 2.2 and occasionally drops to 2.1, then the similar as above.

I just set it that way because that is what I was told originally. Whatever the mAh is, move the decimal over 3 spots and charge at that amp setting. Am I doing that right?

You are doing that exactly right. That is what's known as a 1c charge rating. If you were to move that decimal (or divide the mah by 1000) then multiply by 2, that would be 2c and so on. And if your charger is doing that, then you must have a 100w charger. What charger do you have now? Got a link?

lmao, most manuals suck. But just reading through that, it looks as if you have an 80w charger.

Well, coming from both of you (Tony and Lee), I appreciate that. Glad to hear that I did get a good charger. Maybe I should just stay "happy" with this one.

Just need to find a way to make it portable now, lol. (hmmm, possible new thread topic coming, lol)
