Servos DS410M chattering/vibrating

The first time you hear the head speed of these little things, you will think it's going to fly apart lmao.

Yeah, I run at about 5100. Not bad until you start doing a little pitch pumping or adding a lot of cyclic. No "blade fart" like on the bigger ones, but you hear a distinct buzzing, almost like a giant wasp is hovering inches from your ears.

I've stumbled over a strange problem with my elevator servo. Just above or under mid stick (collective), I'm getting strange vibrations in the servo. The arm vibrates rapidly up and down without any input. I just "feel" the stick to find the "problem spot".

Have a look and give me your thoughts:

Oh yeah, I was out flying this afternoon well aware of the problem - the bird still flies like a charm in spite of the elevator issue.

Hi,

I have exactly same problem with Align 415m servos now. Such vibrating servo horns make my heli shaking intermittently while in hover. Is it servo issue or other cause?
Please let me know how you fixed.

The fix is in this thread somewhere. I believe it was fixed by cleaning the pot slider. But are you sure this is your issue? Sounds like you may have your aileron or elevator gyro pots set too high.

Yeah. There's been some success with opening them up and cleaning out the grease within the pot - although it did not work in my case.

I ended up buying new servos.

Thanks for the clarification Stokke, I thought you cleaned them and it worked. I guess that says something on the number of threads I read every day lmao.

Thanks for your reply, Tony.
I already cleaned inside the servo case, but soon it came back. My heli is Tarot Pro 450 FBL with Tarot zyx-s gyro and when I plug the esc to the battery the pitch servo starts vibrating 2-3 seconds, then stops. However, when I make aileron or elevator stick input it comes back again.
Sometimes the aileron servo vibrates.
They are only 2 months old with 30 flights, that's only hovering in my backyard as I am a beginner.
I think Align DS415M(old DS410M) servo has some issue, maybe faulty ones sold.
I am thinking to replace them with Hitec HS5065MG.

Lee I just took my Savox servos off my 450 and replaced them with DS415s. The savox just seemed too tight or stiff to me. I replaced one the beginning of last summer and it was the stiffest of all. Compared to the elevator servo it was so hard to move by hand. Flew OK but I needed new servos anyway. Let me know how brand new Savox work out. Mine were used.

Enerko, look closer at those HiTecs, they are metal gear but the shafts are held in place with plastic only. I have rebuilt 4 of them and only one had a gear problem, the other three the plastic stripped out where the shaft is held in place in the head of the servo. Maybe thats a good thing but I wasn't impressed with the design. They are still sitting in a box, not sure I'll ever use them. On my 500 they wouldn't fit in the frame until I took a dremel and shaved the openings wider. Also the screw holes did not line up with my frame. They are 5 mm shorter bolt pattern then the DS510. And they are 2mm wider overall. Weird huh?

If you do get them order a couple spare cases.

Well savox and align are the same servos. I use savox myself on my Protos and have not had an issue yet. Mine run smooth and give the usual chatter for digital servos. I will not hesitate to buy more when the time comes.

I replace all 3 Align DS415M servos with Hitec HS5065MG servos. Excellent servos! No more intermittent shaking while hovering the heli and less correction stick inputs needed in hover.
I am very happy with Hitec servos, actually many people indicate Align 410 and 415 servos' vibrating issue. I will never go back to Align 415 servos.
