Servos Tail servo for 550

Looks like I need to order another tail servo for my 550. I have now the kst MS565 that broke on it's first backward hard crash. I'm thinking about giving the same servo a second chance or spend a couple of extra bucks and order the kst bls805x. I like to be a BK servo kind of guy but my pockets aren't so I'm a KST servo kind of flyer :).

What broke on it? If it`s just a broken gear, just put a new gear set in it. That would be a lot cheaper than a brand new servo, and they`re not hard to install. KST are really good servos, and worth repairing.

Hey Geena. The gears are not broke or I would of just replaced them like you mention. They are good servos. Nah, the motor turns slow left & right or not move at all when control stick applied. I know I didn't burn them out because of wrong setting on the FBL unit. These servo can handle 1520us/333HZ. I'm not getting the proper response from that tail servo. I haven't take it apart yet or even test it out. I'm waiting on stinky to get out of my working corner lol. I'll have a little more peace and quite after midnight. Then I can find out more info :).

OK. The ferret finally got up and I had the chance to test out 2 servos I have. They both work but there back up for my 500 heli. One is a Align DS525M and KST DS 515MG. I don't think either one should go on the 550? I'll just wait till I get a the tail servo fixed, if can or order a new tail servo for the 550?

Did you put the 550's servo on a servo tester? If not, try it. And if you can't get it to work, let me know and we will work something out on me checking on it to see if I can get it working again...

I don't have a servo tester. I'll be in the process of taking the servo off after midnight. I appreciate your help Tony trying to get it working again. If it's not the gears or something I can't figure it out...I'll send it to you. I have other stuff too. BTW...can I use either servos I mention for the time being or don't?

So the 500 series servos are mini servos vs the full size you need for the 550. I probably wouldn't use them, but in a pinch, if you can find an adapter to make them fit, they will work, just not as strong or fast if memory serves me correctly.

And take the servo and plug it directly into a receiver. No gyro. And see if it moves the way you expect.

Before you go taking it apart, you should contact KST. They just might replace it for you.

The MS565 is a narrow band (760us)servo. It wont work properly (if at all) if you set it to 1520us. Proper setting for that servo is 760us and 560Hz

It also wont work if you plug it direct into a receiver. Receivers output a 1520us center pulse. The MS565 needs to be connected to a tail gyro that supports narrow band servos.

I thank you all much for your help. After going back and starting my set up all over again, I found out I did make a mistake :duh:. Smoggie caught it. Somehow I must of change the setting on my FBL unit to the wrong one :frown: I notice that the light for 1520us was on instead of 760us. I switch it back and voilà...it works :thinkerg: I'm sorry that I didn't catch that before posting up.:sad2: Next time I'll put my mind in motion before putting my mouth in gear :thankyou: everyone once again for your help :notworthy: The 550 and my self are ready for a flight this morning
