450 Blade Trio 360 Tail Wag

just bought this shiny new blade TRIO 360cfx and first flight outta the box it has constant tail wag I’d say about five degrees in both directions. I’ve adjusted the gain and it did very little. I’ve checked blade tracking and they are pretty dog on close . I’ve looked for bends in the boom and mechanical binds in the tail. The servo seems ok but I’m not sure how I would tell if it’s missing a tooth or something. Tempted since I’ve only flown it once to call up horizon and send it back what do you guys think?

Make sure your tail gyro is set to the correct channel in your Tx. And also, it may be a good idea to go into the gyro settings and make sure the tail gain is set to Tx (light off if I remember correctly). You can adjust the gain in the gyro which is what the A-N light is on top of the gyro after it is initialized (gives you the % that it is) if you don't want to adjust it in your Tx.

Ok so I messed with a bunch of settings and then decided to replace the entire rear tail system with the aluminum ones from micro Heli and now I have a tail that is completely uncontrollable it just spins with the main rotor! I’m thinking my tail Servo is junk what do you guys think?

Since you say you "messed with a bunch of settings", I would say the tail gyro is reversed. That is what it's sounding like anyway.

Alright ,tail sensor direction is still normal (red) the settings I messed where tail dynamic and gain I didn’t touch anything else. And to clarify what it does it doesn’t even get up to idle speed before I have to hit the hold switch to keep it from tipping over from spinning on the ground. When I rotate the copter by hand the tail pitches like it’s supposed to (although I get confused on which way the blades should be angled). Also with no motor input the servo moves and actuates the blades. Should I reverse the tail sensor direction and see what happens? Is it possible I have installed the blades or grips incorrectly (blades have logo facing out)?

Make sure your tail blades are spinning in the correct direction. When you spin your main head clockwise while looking down on the helicopter, the tail blades should be spinning counter clockwise while looking at the helicopter from the right side. Make sure the tail blades have the trailing edge trailing. I know that is simple, but it is very easy to miss. And the trailing edge of the blades should point IN the direction of movement when moving the tail. So if you push the tail (while looking at the helicopter from the rear) to the right, the trailing edge of the blades should point to the right.

Ok so the rotation checks out but when I push the tail to the right the trailing edge of the blades tilt inward towards the boom .....that’s the wrong way right?

Yup, sounds like the gyro is reversed.

It’s the ar7210bx but yes I’m fairly certain it’s as simple and going into the correct menu and changing the red light to blue

That is correct, that was just the first video I could find where it shows the tail blades and the direction they are supposed to go. You will need to go into Menu F and change the light and you should have it set. I would reset your gain though. If you are using a Tx with a -100 to +100 tail gain setting, set it at +45 to start. That should put you in HH mode.

And like a crazy helicopter wizard you fixed it from the internet..... the amount of wizardry in you brain is amazing. I know this was a fairly simple fix but I wonder why the new parts changed the direction of the pitch it was pretty much a one for one swap plastic to aluminum and I didn’t even turn the copter on so I’m not sure why it did this. Must be like a reversed slider or something.

When you put the tail blade grips on, you may have put them on with a leading grip linkage rather than a trailing linkage. It's easy to do, some say it makes a difference in performance, but I have never noticed anything different.
